Jenny Lewis' Best Album
« on: February 10, 2007, 08:20:04 PM »
I was in a rush to catch the bus for Montreal and threw these three albums into the crappy Lyra before I left. I listened to them quite a bit and here is my ranking

1. The Execution of All Things
+ Jenny  :heart :heartbeat :heart :heart :heartbeat
+ Jenny is cute when she swears.
+ Pretty much every song
+ good mix

- The endings of Slumbering Heart and Spectacular Views
- lyrics were not written by Dylan

2. More Adventurous
+ Jenny  :heart :heartbeat :heart :heart :heartbeat
+ Jenny's shows more vocal range
+ Every song (not including Ripchord)

- Ripchord
- lyrics aren't that special

3. Rabbit Fur Coat
+ Jenny  :heart :heartbeat :heart :heart :heartbeat
+ backing vocals
+ The Big Guns (Sounds like something Al Bundy would say)
+ Rise Up With Fists
+ Charging Sky
+ Handle With Care (HARRISON  :bow)
+ Born Secular

- lack of variety
- Half the songs are pretty boring

I fail to understand your insinuation here. RIlo Kiley had one album on Saddle Creek, which the 'Creek managed to botch entirely. Then they jumped ship. The band was already on it's way up when Saddle Creek came a'knockin' and story has it that their time on the label was less than pleasurable for either party. There's no doubt that an association with Conor is a nice boost, but it hardly explains Jenny's popularity. They had labels come calling not long after the Intial Friends EP (Also, "The Frug" is the best Rilo Kiley song, no debate)
