One of the greatest comedy movie scenes ever?
« on: February 11, 2007, 11:40:54 AM »

I think so.  Well, definitely one of the greatest of recent memory.  Too bad the rest of the movie wasn't this funny.

the scene from royal tenenbaums when he's snorting coke in the indian make-up also kills me.

:rofl :rofl :rofl

They need to put Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn together again.  They're hilarious together.

Stop listing frat pack movies.

Most of them are soulless shit aimed at teenagers. List some CLASSICS. Not shitty teen movie nonsense.

What's funny has got to be the most subjective thing ever, though. So its always hard to talk about comedies. All I know is, that as a Bond fan, the funniest movie I've seen in the past decade was Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery in '97. Now, the subsequent sequels were absolutely unnecessary and totally awful, and the huge pop culture craze pushed the series into over-exposed territory, but that original film, damn, that was some damn great spoofing right there. Too bad they had to go and make 2 sequels.

all of those are good flicks, cheebs, but none of them makes me have the reaction of royal tenenbaums, or even zoolander.  to say either of these are "soulless" when they evoke such a strong, soulful reaction as gut-wrenching laughter is--well--a bit elitist

I didn't mean tenebaums. But Zoolander, Wedding Crashers, etc are soulles shit. They aren't quality films.

Note I OWN Zoolander.

No, I liked it and still do because its damned funny. Hell, they are really parodying Bond so much as they are parodying ONE Bond film (YOLT) and a bunch of other 60's and 70's spy genre cliches.

I saw wedding crashers with my neighbors it was strange. Cause that scene was a weird one to them. Whereas I was laughing my ass off.

I'm gonna watch blues brothers, that movie really was funny. The jerk is another good one that I've never gotten to see from begining to end.

And Zoolander is kind of funny, dont know what it is but I laugh at the movie.

Well the character of Austin Powers is Roger Moore's version of Bond but to the extreme.

I think the second was good as well. I don't remember liking anything in part 3 outside the intro with Tom Cruise.

Exactly what I am saying. Cheebs is trying to discredit it though because Im a Bond fan. I could hate Bond and Id still love AP1. The other 2 are shit though. Re-hashed jokes and stunt casting sucks.

Solo's love of AP is just a substitute that he uses to hide his true love of Roger Moore's James Bond.

ugh, Mupepe, Wedding Crashers? :-\ It's no Harold and Kumar, Evilbore's Greatest Movie of all Time and Definitely Better Than Star Wars (tm).

my favorite comedy is probably Todd Solondze's Happiness.

Good stuff buddy.  I still need to buy it.  Harold and Kumar is definitely better that Crashers.  I even said the rest of the movie wasn't as good.  But I love that scene.
