Unlike tekken, Soul calibur, and virtually any other 3D fighter out there, Virtua Fighter is about reacting. You string moves together, but the individual moves are so self sufficient that you can pull some completely weird crap out of your butt IF it fits the situation.
Most people who think a character is better, are depending on high priority attacks and cheap shots to win the day, which will not win you a real tournament. Most game journalists are horrible gamers.
