Living with women in college...?
« on: August 17, 2006, 06:08:08 PM »
I've said I'm moving into a frat house many times here. We've been cleaning up the house all week (ugh), and now my mom put out the For Rent signs. Originally my parents said they don't want any women in the house, only guys. Which is a pretty good idea imo.

But so far, all the people who have called inquiring about the house...are women. Now my parents are thinking about letting women rent, possibly three, which would mean I'd be the only guy in the house. Obviously we still have a lot of time before we start accepting people, but...

Has anyone lived in a co-ed dorm or anything like that with a chick? Personally I wouldn't mind having 1 woman in the house. Maybe 2 if there's another guy in the house with me. I think it would be a good experience and would help me become more comfortable around women. And besides it would be better to have a chick in there than 3 frat boy assholes.

Just don't treat them any different from anyone you meet on the street and any friends you make, cause the minute it gets wierd is the minute it sucks.

the only difference is you can ask them to make you a sandwich and they get pissed if you leave the toilet seat up  :-\

otherwise drunken sex is a plus

Living with women blows.  They tend to try and "own" the house and enforce a lot more rules than guys.  If you have laidback male roommates, living together can be a breeze.  Adding a woman to the mix can be trouble.

Yeah, that's the truth. I've been in situations where female friends want to be "more than friends" and that whole situation fucking sucks. I wouldn't be looking to get into that, especially with a roommate.

I'm interested in the little differences between the sexes here too. My mom expects to be treated a certain way because she's a woman, and that's been pounded into my ass for 19 years now XD. And of course I've watched her interaction with my dad for just as long. I'm pretty sure I could get along with a chick in this kind of situation.

Also, women in college tend to think higher education makes then enlightened and that their shit smells like toasted muffins.  They've eaten from the tree of knowledge and going to show the establishment and mankind that they are woman, hear them roar!

:(

If there's one thing I loathe it's feminists.

Don't get me wrong - I love smart women. But god dammit if you have to tell me how smart and how enlightened you are, you must not be too smart or enlightened. So fix me and sammich!

Since I'm going to basically be my parent's representative at the house, I have to do most of the cleaning and stuff. Obviously people are going to be expected to clean up after themselves as well. I'd think that guys are more messy than girls...?

First off don't think our going to be having massive amounts of sex with all your college roomates/freinds that are girls, because your not.  Secondly PD if you decide to never and I repeat NEVER hook up with someone who lives with you.  My best freind Nick freshman year got with this chick who lived next door, and they broke up over something so trival...is was DRAMA for the rest of the fucking year.  However, my house is not co-ed guys only with girls around all the time...I don't even think we have a co-ed frat on campus besides the gay one ...

Trust me, I don't think for one second I'm gonna bang with a roomate. Not gonna happen. It would suck ass to play around with someone for a month, and then break up and fight for the rest of the year. No no.

Even if she throws herself at me dammit I'd be cautious.

You sir need a plan! And a dress!

If television has taught me one thing, it's that if you're going to living with a bunch of women then you need to dress up and pretend to be a woman.  How else do you get to see them walk arround in undies or even naked? You can sit on the couch together, watching Sex in the City and fall asleep with your head on their breasts and it's no problem!

Gratned, it will be expensive, all the makeup and the new wardrobe, but hey it worked for Tom Hanks. ;)

When did you get admitted to EMU? I got in on the 11th. Same time as Wayne.

I'm going to Wayne.

Also, if you live with a woman that's not related to you, and she's hot... and she doesn't have AIDS, hit that shit. Straight up. Hit it at least once. If you don't, you're gay dude.

I lived with a women during a portion of college.  Contrary to all the horror stories, it wasn't all that bad.  We were best friends before the living situation, and still remain so.  She was a bartender at a local bar so she'd always bring her hawtttie girlfriends over and like me, she demanded a clean living enviroment.  Unfortunately for her, she was fired about 6 months into our lease and had to leave.  No hard feelings, that's life.  She's currently engaged and living in Houston.  Now she talks on the phone more than ever.   :-\

My dad wants booze to be banned from the house, but I doubt that'll happen. We'll see.

The chick interested in the house called again. She came over a couple days ago, but I wasn't there. My mom says she's asian and good looking. And my mom said that when she told her about the possible no beer rule, she said "oh no!" She sounds hot. :)

And a guy came over today too, and he's going to move in. He's not a college student though; he's Native American and a stomach cancer survivor (IE he can't drink/smoke). Seems like a good dude who'll stay to himself.

I get that your parents are paying your way, but you might as well stay home if they're still going to be setting the rules. Sounds like they're using their financial support as a way of keeping you in check, and fuck that.

True. It is a way to keep me under their thumb. They expect me to still come to church with them; since I won't have my car, they plan on picking me up from the house every Sunday. Screw that. I'm getting a job, and I'll make sure I work on Sundays.

In the end they are very "concerned" about my education choices. I don't know 100% what I want to be, but ...does any other 19 year old? Come on. My parents would prefer that I become a dentist and take over my dad's practice in the future, but I'm not interested in that. I'm thinking about law or/and business.

If you want to go into law it doesn't matter what you do to get your bachleor's since you have to go 3 years after college to get a law degree.

I'm living at home my first semester and I think I have more freedom than you. You really should consider leaving town all together.

Also, being a dentist beats the hell out of Law. My dentist works 4 days a week and spends his days fishing and golfing all the time. Every lawyer I know spends their free time slaving over papers. Being a lawyer is not like being on JAG or Law and Order. Nothings fun about litigation.

No, my dad is a Dean.

I dunno about your pops, but all the dentists I know have tons of free time and are genuinely happy with their jobs. I've heard no good things about going into law. Not to mention, there's already a glut of lawyers as it is.

You're not going to be Johnny Cochran if that's what you're thinking. Law is slaving over pages and pages of legalese and filing papers and shit. Not fun at all.

Is there any work with a degree in PoliSci?
