Does the fat farm let you park it in back with all the other cars they use to ferry their clientele between the "gym" and the local Burger King? Do they even HAVE a Burger King out there in Puddlefuck?

I don't have it yet. We do the paper work tomorrow morning. I test drove it for about a half hour with some friends. It was pretty fun. I'm going to miss the roominess of the Caravan though. But even when I do get it, I don't plan on driving it around for no reason as I have to pay for my own gas. Shit's expensive, dude.

Yep. It's a 1998 Grand AM GT. I nicknamed it Stunt 101. I hope that vanity plate is available...

Don't pontiac's break down fast?  Owned by Ford and have crap transmissions?  On the topic, manual or automatic?

My friend has the same exact car. It's survived the trip to Detroit and back and it runs perfect. Someone threw a brick through his window once. That's as much problem as he's had with it. I'm not doing any hard driving, not yet at least. It was either the Grand AM or a crappy Cavalier. Which would you chose? And of course it's an automatic. Why would I get a manual?

manual...can...be...learned...in half an hour and it's a lot faster.  Why would you get a sports car with an automatic?  I mean if your dad paid for half the car and doesn't want you racing I would understand but why would you choose to have a car you can't have any fun with?

Automatic = no control.

I can outpace an automatic sports car with my stupid ford focus, which is all that matters in town lolz. Not like we'll get on a long stretch where he can buzz by me with a superior engine and not get caught by a cop lolerz

Its about being able to control your car, not letting your car control you.

um no manual can not be learned in a half hour...where are you making this shit up from?  Manual takes a lot more than just a day to get use to, and if he's been driving automatic his whole life than it's a big change.  Who cares what kind of shift he's driving?  I know how to drive both just in case of emergencys, but I wouldn't mind driving either or given the option of getting a new car.

Manual actually takes a good year to get down. I've put 42,000 on my focus, and my car before was a manual and honestly I didnt really KNOW manual till I got my focus.

A clean manual shifting routine takes practice. I know a guy with a tricked out manual ricer car that shifts so weird the car just lurches the fuck all over.

Different cars can be pushed to different limits in a manual, honestly while my focus is a crappy 4 cyl it can fuckin churn when it wants to. Trouble with the econ focus line (non zx shit) is they have a shit top speed and tend to just lose all guts around 50-70 mph. LAME.

I learned it in half an hour and he's using an old car so it's good training for learning how to use clutch.  If it was manual on a motorcycle I would understand but if you aren't driving better with manual after a day then you would with the same car in automatic, then you just can't drive well.

My mom paid for it. All I have to do is take care of gas. Who the hell am I going to race? You're talking to a dude who drove a minivan for 2 years. I'm not an aggressive driver by any means. Plus, driving fast means dealing with the cops. They're not usually too cool about the whole African American thing I have going on. Combine this with the fact that there are virtually NO MT cars for 3k selling in this area and you'll know why I bought an automatic.

Well there's driving manual and driving manual WELL.

You MAY be a prodigy am nintenho, but most people dont actually get it down for a while. Additionally when you get a new car you have to spend a few weeks getting a feel for it, because each one is different.

Everybody I know has learned manual in a day or two.  The difference is that driving automatic has no challenge whatsoever.  If you're an idiot, you'll obsess over the revometer.

You must not know that many people, because everyone I know usually takes more than that.  You can learn the basics on day one, sure.  But applying them, driving pretty good, and learning how to drive not in an empty parking lot takes time.
