Lost Highway - your thoughts
« on: February 12, 2007, 06:06:39 PM »
Lost Highway is one fucked up movie, boy. I can't believe I saw it in the theater after taking some strong acid. I was making gutteral noises and slapping myself in the face by the end!

Anyways, I have a huge crush on Patricia Arquette and since she takes her kit off in this movie - I think it's the ONLY movie she's been nude in, not counting the nipple flash + outtake in True Romance  - I had to go and see it. I've seen it like fifteen times since then and I swear, I STILL don't know what it's about. It seems like it's a morality play mixed with vampires but... maybe not.

Anyone have any opinions on this movie?

I haven't seen it for ten (?) years now, they really need to get around to releasing it on DVD in the US.

Crap.  I like David Lynch and all but Lost Highway is a fucking mess and anyone that says they know what that film is about is full of shit.  I don't think even Lynch knows what he was trying to get at with Lost Highway.  The film has some great Lynchian moments - like at the beginning where Arquette and Pullman's characters start finding tapes at their door and when the mystery man shows up at the party and tells Pullman to call his house - but that's it.

And I've heard INLAND EMPIRE makes even less sense than Lost Highway.  Boo-urns.
