I've been reading through all of the plot summaries for the game, and just can't understand why Snake would suddenly turn old.

Fuck Kojima knows how to fuck with people.

I saw the pictures of old Snake and naturally I assumed that the game takes place a while after MGS2. Makes sense....

Apparently, the rapid degeneration effect is from the cloning process, hence Snake's new look in MGS4. I guess as someone said, that you're looking for coherency and answers in a MGS storyline - you're not going to get it.

No wonder you guys don't understand MGS's plot, you don't even bother paying attention. The reason Snake is old is because he's the failed clone of Big Boss, and he has Big Boss's recessive genes. So while he is awesome, he gets old quicker.

Well the last released vid showed a character that looks like a younger Snake. Its probably Kojima trying to mindfuck the fanbase again but yeah.

and I also believe that its always been known that Snake being a clone has caused him to age faster.

This game is just the perfect culmination of things (when it comes to the story)

We HAD the prequel...learned about Big Boss and now where in the future and we'll have closure. I agree this needs to be the last one.

It seems like Kojima will end the series here too. I remember him stating that he wants to get "This monster out of the way" (referring to the MGS series). In a way...I would love him to take like a decade break away from the game...and come out with the next iteration on PS4

and do that for the rest of his life! One MGS per generation

Oh, okay. I first played MGS1 for PS this past summer and I didn't get a chance to beat Liquid because I had to give it back to my friend. I guess they tell you that at the end.

Actually clones are supposed to live longer then the real things but they usually fuck it up I guess and they die quickly.

Of course there's no reason why one clone will live longer than another.

Well, it seems as though they are not exact carbon copy clones. The genes were split in some way (Hence one getting the represive, the other dominant etc)?

but you don't split them like pluses and minuses, there are like 6 acids, they make templates for everything in the body to be built on, there's no reason to make stronger genes by making a weaker clone.

why the fuck would they even make a clone if they seperated out everything they need, wouldn't you have to start everything over just to make shit?
