Its whole library looks so unappealing, especially considering that everything worth a damn has been ported on another system.

Just completed a bunch of Dreamcast games, I tried to look at all the old titles still worth trying out today, but all I ended up with was Jet Grind Radio, Shenmue, Grandia 2 (because the PS2 port is shit), Skies of Arcadia (because the GameCube port has downsampled music), Sonic Adventure (because the GameCube remake has a terrible framerate), and Virtua Fighter 3.

There are so few games with substance. But when you take Sega fans' words literally, the DC appears as if it was a godsend. When playing these old games I found that the graphics looked pitiful and aged terribly, that the Dreamcast pad was extremely uncomfortable, and I had a hard time to bear all the miniature 3D levels after having tried so many modern PS2 games.

well, that's all it is, a sentimental favorite

but it doesn't hold up at all today, even with the VGA box which makes DC games look even more embarassing

now that all modern console systems use PC GPUs there aren't any revolutionary rendering techniques that can wow us

The DC came out during the time I quit gaming for 4-5 years. I remember walking by a demo unit in best buy, picking up the controller and laughing my head off. WTF kind of controller is this?! Played NFL 2k for 7 minutes and never touched it again.

I would imagine alot of other casuals had the same kind of impressions I did. If only I would have know I could have pirated the whole library with ease, I would have bought one.

At one point I had spare cash and was thinking of getting a second system to my n64. The Dreamcast was out, but the PSOne was at that $99 price point. I had heard all these great things about MGS and FF7 etc, so I went with PSOne and a copy of GRan Turismo 2.

I still regret it. THe playstation was the overrated crock of shit. The next gen I play all the dreamcast games I missed as ports on other systems and really like them. In retrospect, I would have rather had the DC.

it's not worth it to get a used Dreamcast anymore, probably not unless someone desires to play the original Shenmue or Jet Grind/Set Radio that badly

That sounds more like a case of Jotaro being distinguished mentally-challenged, which is nothing unusual. The DC had an incredible lineup while it was out. It's not the systems fault that the PS2 and GC picked over its corpse.

no, most games had very little substance, that one argument would instead apply to gamers looking to pick up a used Dreamcast in 2007

the PSOne today still has a very large library of unique games that can keep gamers occupied for a long time, and the Saturn too (which I find to be much superior to the DC)

but on Dreamcast a too high percentage of the games that are frequently hailed as masterpieces are arcade-like in lenght and depth, and lost their appeal since ulterior iterations on current systems rendered them obsolete

Awesome system with one of the best ratios of good:bad in the history of video games. Honestly after DC died I just became jaded with games.

Keep that N64 crap outta this thread... that was definitely the worst thing Nintendo has ever done, I had more fun with VB than N64
