What the Christ? I was dropped from my History class for the lamest reason ever

I had 2 unexcused absences in the class. One more and I'd be dropped. We had an exam on Monday, and I have special conditions (longer exam time, the ability to work in the lab;etc). I went to the lab without checking into class on Monday. I figured, why bother? He has already sent the papers and things I need to take my exam, all I needed was a scantron. After getting my answer sheet I went to take the test.

Anyways, I come into class today and the guy says I've been dropped for too many absences. What? Did he expect me to go to the class on Monday just to check in, then walk all the way to the lab? The fact I went to the lab and took my exam should be proof enough that I did my shit, so why was I dropped?

I always thought failing students for missing lectures was stupid.  Let them fail on their own merit - they paid for the courses.

Is this a Freshman level course?  I can't imagine a professor would implement an attendance code like that for anything higher.

Some of the teachers give pop quizzes to make sure students come to class. Those teachers are stupid.

Only one of my classes takes attendance - and the teacher is foreign lol. I notice most of my foreign teachers throughout the years have taken attendance.

Classes that let any aspect of attendance factor into a final grade are compensating for a lack of solid curriculum. I ditched tons of classes in college and still got a 3.4 my first two years. My second degree I didnt get away as clean due to lots of long term projects and less term papers ;-) Still over a 3.0 tho.

My high school allowed up to 14 unexcused absences and I went to a "good" school.

That's rough dude. Required attendence in college/university is the biggest load of shit ever.
