Final Fantasy VI Advance!
« on: February 23, 2007, 05:08:01 PM »
:bow :bow :bow

I don't know which I like more: FFVI or FFX. I'd say they're both TIED for my 2nd favorite FF's.

Impressions:

- Music is lower quality, but fine if you have headphones. Still, it's a downgrade to what was there before.
- Battles are FAST, and not a problem, unlike the lagalicious psx version.

That's about it. I like the way the game looks on my ds lite, I'll say that.

Replaying FFVI for 3rd time gogo.

Not sure about the unlockables, but I feel your need for some Chrono Trigger.  I'm pretty sure we can look forward to its VC release.

I forgot how awesome the combo of Genji Glove and Black Belt was.  You put that on either Sabin, Edgar, or Locke (with a Morning Star and then the Ultima Weapon) I'm nearly invulnerable.

Did they use the same translation from the SNES version or did they redo it like with Final Fantasy V?  Inquiring minds want to know.

They redid the translation.

Drinky: Basically, if I recall. Genji Glove is elite uber shit though. Genji Glove + Gauntlet.  :-*

For example:

Phantom Forest doesn't look like this at all. It's got a bunch of dots and it's considerably less quality. I thought GBA was more powerful than the SNES? On a smaller screen, I shouldn't be noticing this stuff.

I'm 5 hours in, on my way Figaro to get to Kohlington and Jidoor. I have noticed that the difficulty has been increased, there have been moves that were previously not used my enemies. On the Doom Train the ghosts cast this spell that stops you. It can rape you pretty bad in fact, because usually you fight 4 or so ghosts at once. They cast powerful spells while you're stuck, and well...you're screwed if you can't get them in one or two hits.

Was this in the original FFIII (snes) FFVI (psx)?

The battle at Narshe was considerably more annoying. It didn't use to be annoying at all but I swear I fought a lot more troops this time. It was a hassle so I just went straight for Kefka.

I think apart of the reason I've been having some difficulty increase is because I haven't bothered giving all of my characters armor upgrades yet.

I caught the dialogue sequence in the pub with "humpty" and "dumpty". I definitely remember that part in the original version, but it didn't have as raunchy dialogue. Sabin's a total fairy.

Hm, you're saying that Doom Train actually cast a Stop effect on some members?  From what I remember in the SNES version, he only caused effects like Dark, Poison, Imp, Berserk, Muddled...and Slow, I think.  Don't remember Stop.

Oh,, reading comp. ftl.  I still don't really remember a Ghost using a Stop-like special, though.
