When CrystalGemini and I saw Superman Returns, the tickets were like $13 a person. Casino Royale wasn't that much cheaper, despite the fact that we didn't see it in the Hollywood area. Movies are fucking expensive, dude.

My brother begged me to take him so I said alright fine, it looks good. So he orders the tickets on the phone, and the next day I pick them up. The day after that we head to the theater, at which point the bastards reveal it's an IMAX showing. Now the tickets said nothing about IMAX, and I thought it was pretty shady.

To make matters worse like 10min of the movie was 3D. I was so pissed I kept the goggles on, only to have some asshole behind me whisper "hey buddy, you only put the goggles on when the screen tells you to." Motherfucker I spent $13 for these things, I'll wear these whenever I want

It's still a great movie though. People seemed to want the movie to be some big dumb action movie with lots of epic battles and giant robots. The movie instead focused on the idea of how the regular world would react to a superhuman being, and I thought it was done very well.

That's the problem. People went in expecting a superhero movie, and instead got a movie about how humans would deal with a superhero. Because when you get down to it, that's all Superman is, and that's what he originally was. Superman didn't start out fighting giant robots or fellow aliens. He prevented train wrecks, stopped mad scientists, and thrwarted bank robbers. All of those are real life problems.

Saving a plane from crashing into a sports stadium is something that's far more relevent to real life than saving the universe from evil aliens

How can Superman Returns be better than Batman Begins? Batman Begins successfully relaunched the franchise, SR...didn't. Superman Returns was a really mediocre superhero movie, and this is coming from someone who is a huge fan of the character and who loved the Reeve movies, even the cheezy ones.
