I watched Syriana last night. Overall there were many things that I liked about it. The acting was great, the music was nice, great cinematography.
...
But that didn't stop it from being a mindnumbing mess of a movie. There were about 10 different storylines, all of which were not really flushed out to frution. So at the end when everything "comes together", it made little sense. I understand some things:
-The CIA sells arms to a group of arabs, who then sell the arms to a terrorist organization. When Clooney tells the CIA about this, they don't seem to care
-The oil company wants to build a pipeline through the middle east country. But two possible Amirs are in the way. One is extremely progessive and wants to give the contract to China and build infastructure for his country, while the younger prince wants to suck as much US cock he has to in order to become Amir
-The black guy investigates the oil company to see if there's any wrong doing. He finds corruption...
Now, what I don't understand:
-Why the fuck did Clooney flag down the progressive Amir's car towards the end? I have no idea what the hell that was about. He wasn't working for the CIA at that point; they didn't even know what was going on
-Was Matt Damon's character working undercover for the CIA? He got out of the Amir's car shortly before it was destroyed - did he know the gig? And if so, why?
-What the hell was the CIA doing? They knew the missile was stolen, but they didn't do anything about it. Were they secretly supporting the terrorist group who blew up the oil rig at the end? Or...
-Was the terrorist group working alone?
WTF
