Some More NBA Talk
« on: February 25, 2007, 02:43:31 PM »
After the Iverson trade I wrote "I don't see this working out" and it hasn't worked out. Since the trade the Nuggets are 12-18 and barely holding on to a playoff spot. And with both Anthony and Iverson in the lineup they're 6-11. Both players are selfish chuckers who turn the ball over like crazy and don't play any real defense. And this sounds like the Nuggets as a team; they have turned the ball over nearly 50 times in their last two games while playing no D at all.

Now that Wade is injured, I see the Pistons coming out of the East. They are a balanced team and I am shocked at how well Webber has played for them. My second choice is the Bulls. Oddly both teams are playing each other today. (THANKS ABC FOR TWO EASTERN CONFERENCE GAMES!)

MVP

Nowitzki. There can be no doubt.  Dallas is 46 and 9 and the only team to ever have three double digit win streaks during a season. In games within seven points Dirk averages 29.2 PPG, 9.75 RPG, 3.25 APG. During his last five games he has averaged 30/10/6/1.4/1.0 on 53% shooting. Come on now.

1. Dirk
2. Nash

3. Duncan

Dirk's PER 29.05

Arenas' PER 24.21
Nash's PER 24.19

So Dirk is more productive and his team has a much better record. Hmmm...

Let's name all the players who have averaged over 25 points while shooting 50% from the field, 40% 3pt shooting, and 90% freethrow shooting.

Larry Bird
Dirk Nowitzki

That is all.

If Dirk doesn't win it this year, it'll be a freaking disgrace -- especially seeing as how he was robbed last season.

I agree that either Detroit or Chicago will come out of the East, unless Wade comes back in time for the playoffs and Shaq experiences a recrudescence of sorts.

Shaq's almost 35, there's only so much he can do at this point of his career. Maybe if he worked hard like Jordan or Malone he could still be a force at this age, but Shaq has never liked to work hard.

If Wade comes back with a few weeks left in the regular season and plays himself into shape, then the Heat might be a force. It really doesn't matter, the Least is so freaking' terrible.

Glad you can see Dirk is clearly the front runner in the MVP race. A lot of people are coming around, but most media members are still going to give it to Nash. They look at Phoenix without Nash as proof that he is the MVP, without taking into consideration the fact that Nash doesn't really have a true point guard backing him up and the system needs a playmaking point guard.

Bryan Colangelo is exec of the year, simply because he didn't want to sign Mike James. Mind you everyone  knew Mike James' contract year meant nothing. Mike James is pathetic.

Arenas is a selfish bastard. Even his coach has called him out lol

It's going to be between Nash and Dirk. I wouldn't mind seeing them both share the award because they both deserve it imo. At first I thought Kobe would be a contender but after that huge losing skid his chances are done

Well Arenas nearly shot 20% today, so that's something.
