yeah, if everything does go digital, things would rarely drop in price.  PSN and XBLA occasionally has sales here or there while Wiiware has nothing (interpret that anyway you want.)  Steam is probably the best about this with their constant sales and all that.  None of it really is the same as going into a store and buying 4 quality games for under $10, but at least it's convenient and 'new'

Actually Steam was the biggest culprit when it came to not lowering prices (i remember seeing for a long while half lifse 2 for 20 bones at the store but and it usual 40 price on steam)

I have explained this several times I believe.    The view of the game is from the gun, not the characters eyes.  The players do not run around the game all the time with the gun up to their eyes, they have the gun down to their side, around their stomach as they run around.  The gun is not planted to the middle of the forehead of a midget running around. 


Look at how characters run around, they hold the gun down by their side. 


If they actually had the view of the game from the characters eyes, to make the character look 6 feet tall, then your view would be above the gun, making it nearly impossible to aim from the hip because of the perspective of looking over the top of your gun and trying to get a crosshair on someone.



Now when you look down the scope by holding L1 to aim, the characters head goes down some and the gun comes up, meeting each other halfway.    This should make the character look/feel a little taller, but it doesn't.  HOWEVER, if they did it this way, you could not be able to line something up from the hip, then hold L1 to aim and shoot, since the gun would actually move up and off your target as it goes to your eye.


It is a videogame.  Imagine your character has a camera in the middle of his chest/stomach, that is the view you have.  That is the view you have so you can easily aim from the hip.


If you did feel like you were 6 feet tall, then people would say, "OMG, are these guys running around with the gun sticking to their forhead??""  or "DUDE, this is so unrealistic, it is like my guy is running around with the gun up to his face the whole time, my gun is like 6 feet off the ground.


Go grab an assault rifle, run around with it as if you are running for your life, but still ready to kill something that may jump out at you, you would not run around with the gun up by your head, you would run around like THIS, ready to shoot.

Now, look at ARRRRRnold.  I know this is an awful example.  But this is kinda how you run in KZ2.  The camera angle is from the middle of your chest so you can easily aim the weapon you are holding at your side, like ARRRRRnold.  Notice how ARRRRnold's gun is probably 3-4 feet from the ground when he walks around, that is the same perspective in Killzone 2.  Some look at it as being a dwarf, I look at it as a videogame trying to be a little more realistic. 



Other games have done it better, but if you would really think of the Perspective in other FPS, it is like the gun is 6 feet off the ground.  Who would really run around with their gun up by their face or above their head?   In a real war, you would not run around like this all the time if you were trying to be fast, but also protect yourself.  This is how they would run around in Killzone 2, if you think about it, if you wanted to "feel" 6 feet tall.

Yeah, that is where I said it takes the liberties of being a videogame.  If you notice in Killzone 2, if you have your crosshairs on something, and then hit L1 to zoom, your site through the scope is basically exactly aimed where you had your crosshairs before you hit L1 to zoom.


If it had an animation or the gun moved up to your eyes, then it would/should move the gun off of the target.  Then we would all complain about how awful it is that once you zoom in, you have to "re-aim."


I am not saying I like the way the line of perspective and point of view is in Killzone 2.  I am not defending it either.  I just understand what they were trying to do in the realms of reality in a video game. 


I feel that you calling my explanation for the perspective "most convoluted and unnecessary justifications" to be pretty unnecessary.  I am not condoning it, I am not defending it, I am trying to explain it to the people that are struggling with the perspective making you feel like a dwarf. 


And how in the world does the camera, which I explained very thoroughly is basically more from the characters chest, all the sudden looking down a scope when you hit L1 just prove that the perspective of the game is from the eyes of a 4ft person? 



Do you think GG is stupid?  THey knew what they were doing.    They didn't say "Hey, lets make the main character appear like a midget when you play, but not in cutscenes~!" 

When you aim, the gun does nothing more than move closer to the camera, which is still around your chest.  They could have done it better, yes.  They could have had an animation where it raises up to your eyes.  But that would still raise the gun 2-3 more feet off the ground, moving it 2-3 feet higher than it was before you zoomed in, and giving you a totally different perspective of where you were aiming before you zoomed in, if it were done correctly.  This would be frustrating and, again, would make you have to "re-aim" every time you zoom. 


This is still a videogame, not real life.  YOu are going to have to accept you are playing Killzone 2 for the PS3 and not Real World Virtual Army Simulater Super Tron XL 2025 Training Game. 

Now if you would like to explain your opinion a little more, then I would be willing to listen.  I know you feel the game is played from the view of " the character's eyes" but that would mean that GG basically created this game and played it for over 4 years, had the online up and running for the past 3 years,  without noticing for one second that you were a 3 foot dwarf.  It looks the way they intended it to look.  It is a game played from a camera angle in the middle of the player's chest for all the reasons I have explained in my last 2 posts.

Well, if you're going to go with the realistic battlefield movement angle, you risk helping their side of the argument. Having played it further I agree with the midget vision thing (although it doesn't bother me much, and I don't understand how it could spawn an argument of that length), but the midget vision defense force would probably have more luck simply arguing that tuck and sight during motion would cause the eye level to be lower. Arnie? Come on.

Just saying that because i actually never shoot from the hip, unless i'm trying to spray some spit so i can get into cover.

I always use the sights. Hence my preference for having the view point be closer to the eye line. In COd4 it was the same thing, when you get up to other characters in cut scenes, you feel shorter than everyone else. Still haven't played KZ2, still waiting for my copy.

All of the COD games had the same layout. Shooting from the hip is inaccurate and the gun model is low, when you raise your sights, you bring the gun to the camera.

No one complained about it fucking up their aim in COD4.....

to be fair, KZ2 hip shooting is far more accurate / lethal than CoD4, or even Gears 2, hip shooting.

I think I'll have to adjust my prognosis there. I sincerely did not think that Sony would allow the marketing of this game to be so meh. God knows how many millions went into the development of the game, and it launches to a marketing campaign dwarfed by your standard 3rd party game. Yikes.
