Why?

He's a typical GAF member in a flailing argument: rather than admit being wrong ("Hey, I never thought of it that way.") or bowing out when it is clear that a deep enough hole has been dug, they go 100 mph full bore in the wrong direction.

I've read bits and pieces of that thread and I still think the core issue here that people like RubxQub object to is that people are upset that this involved underage drinking, rather than the rape in question. It is being unable to see the forest for the trees at its very worst.

The game sounds terrible just because 'you can use almost any of your peripherals with this game'. Well it makes sense from a logical standpoint. The Wii craze is over and now hardware sales are back to normal levels. It isn't a shock at all that revenues will decrease because of that fact. It's ridiculous to assume that people are going to always be standing outside of a Best Buy in -10 degree temperatures to get a Wii. It is ridiculous to think that every holiday is going to result in 2+ million Wii units sold per month (in the US) or that it can be topped by having three million units sold per month during the holidays in the US.

I agree with what Iwata said about not having a constant supply of software. Nintendo essentially gave up after Mario Kart Wii; they assumed (correctly) that their stuff from 2006-early 2008 would keep selling well after most games do. They've become pretty lazy overall. NSMB Wii and SMG2 are great but not completely enough. Nintendo has adopted this strategy for the DS too. Other than a couple of games here and there, they're coasting. Hopefully this lights a fire under their ass enough to make a few more higher quality games than Wii Music Plus or Wii Play Again.
