Boy, does Amir0x takes gaming way too seriously, especially after reading his comments on Bayonetta. I guess that what I'd expect from Mother fans. Sorry, Viz.
Hey, I was in that thread!

Most of the comments on Bayonetta are way off base. If you check that thread, you'll notice that no one who has played through the game is in agreement.
He strikes me as someone who has no sense of humour or proportion about himself....
He seems to be embarrased by Bayonetta in a hobby full of kill simulators and sexualized fantasies and games where you run around killing goblins in LOTR reenactments and geared towards men who never out grew their adolescence. And I count myself firmly among that group without any shame (Or at least not much shame). Why pretend we are anything else...
Yet that game is the one that somehow crosses the line for him.
Yeah, I don't get it. It's not just Amirox in that thread, but several posters. I'm not coming in there with fanboy denile over Bayonetta's oversexualized traits, but every time I brought up how in games like GTA, you go around to strip clubs and get ass in the face, or can fuck hookers, this was glossed over. Same with the half-naked Kratos running around killing innocent civilians and ripping people in half, then going and fucking several women off-camera afterwards. Somehow these are not as offensive.

I'm still waiting to find out why his girlfriend was more offended by Bayonetta than those games.
Females AND males are both typically presented in this highly-exaggerated "ideal" body type fashion. Male characters also have humongous chests and unrealistic bodies, but no one ever mentions that.
I haven't read the thread in question or played Bayonetta, but I think the difference between Bayonetta & DMC or NG or GoW is obviously the oversexualized lead female character and what I would guess are a lot of sex jokes/metaphors.
Ninja Gaiden's Rachel is much, much worse in terms of tits n' ass. The same thing with nude (from the waste up) chicks in God Of War.
I'd feel fine playing DMC/NG with girls, but I think playing Bayonetta would be awkward with women because of that. GoW is kinda of as well because of the oversexualized Kratos, but just going by the advertising I think Bayonetta focuses on the T&A more.
I don't know about the advertising (haven't seen anything), but Bayonetta really is not that kind of game. Yes, the character gets "naked" when you do finishing moves to bosses (but the naughty bits stay covered up), and you see this for a split second, because the focus is on the demon being summoned and subsequently destroying the boss, not on Bayonetta. When you're playing the game, you'll be too busy focusing on the game play to look at that stuff anyway. The sexuality of the character is just as over-the-top crazy as everything else in the game. The intro stage is where the T n' A close-up stuff is, and then it's pretty much gone. None of it is done seriously anyway. It's like one big send-up of all these games.
Yeah I don't like the uberviolence or tities in GoW and I think the spiders crawling out of the nipples of women in Dante's Inferno looks awkwaredly embarrassing as well.
I meant it like I wouldn't be embarrassed watching (with women) Dante riding a missle like a surfboard and cracking lame jokes while fighting with people in DMC3 because that's just silly fun that everyone can laugh at and enjoy. I would be embarrassed to play a game (with women) where a woman strips her clothes off everytime she does a special attack.
Bayonetta doesn't strip off her clothes every time she does a special attack. When you do certain finishers that make some of (or all, but again, it's covered up) her "clothes" come off, it's because it's really the character's hair. You literally see this for a split-second, and again when you're the one playing, you don't have time to ogle or whatever.
And I don't know about you, but I tend to not play video games, let alone single player titles, in front of company, be it female or male. Anyone who isn't into games is going to think they're all just e-toys and that you're too old to still be playing them anyway.

There's your "embarrassment."
Also, some dudes just really can't get into playing games that have female leads. Me, I like the view so I'm alright with that, but there are obviously other reasons why Bayonetta just plain isn't for me.
This too. And if there's even the slightest hint of sexuality, it's "OH MY GOD THIS GAME IS OFFENSIVE MY GIRLFRIEND (YES, I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND!!!!111) CAN'T BELIEVE IT. DID I MENTION I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND??!?!"
