Seeing Xbots act like sniveling, bleeding martyrs is something else. Face it dudes, your behavior just doesn't mesh with what NeoGAF wants to be these days. If it seems like a whole heaping lot of the people who get banned are xbots, well, then that really says more about the general mentality and attitude among Xbots than it does about any supposed system war preference among the NeoGAF administration. Basically, Xbots are insufferable prats. I've gotten banned plenty of times for slamming the 360, and I'd wager that's because I'm just a turncoat Xbot.

I don't know. I took a break because I really don't get the place these days. Just saying, this martyr stuff is hilarious in its false righteousness. When it comes down to it, me, you, Hitler, and the gang, we are all argumentative pricks, that's our common thread. We all know why we get banned, and really now, it's not because we favor one platform over the other. I don't agree with the priorities over there, but that's another issue. And it's not like everyone here is a damned saint. I saw mojovonio gripe about industry professionals no longer posting on NeoGAF, which inspired a light chuckle considering that his own behavior in threads dedicated to games that aren't on his personal list of favorites would probably serve as a perfect example of why any developer working on any of those games would rather not post in those threads.

Well, it was a pretty pointless place to post it, wasn't it? As an Xbot turned against the brand because of the horrifyingly shitty 360 hardware and even shittier customer service (and for a shitload of other reasons related to the 360 shit experience), I understand where you're coming from, but I'm not surprised they banned you for it.

In other news, GRID, Haze and Bourne demos next week, should be a hoot. GRID because Codemasters rock, and Haze because, well, good or bad, everyone gets some enjoyment or grief out of it.

I think it's a long period of largely intangible rules that has created a certain vibe about the board in recent times.  Like making certain actions bannable, and if you weren't around where the thread came up where the mod said "this is out", well, you're fucked.

Evilore's new rules seem the latest incarnation of that.  If a mod reads your post and thinks it's clear you didn't read the OP, you're banned?  Or you post in such a way that you're not contributing in "the way you should be", you're banned?  Crazy.

I can't see this doing anything other than further contributing to the decline of the board.

My gut feeling is that it has become this unstable, unwieldy monster.  At the size it is, it seems to have taken on a life of its own and Evilore seems to be having serious trouble controlling it.  Maybe it reached critical mass.

The members of a board make it what it is, and their responses to other posters play a big part in the vibe of a board and what is deemed acceptable.

I have no idea if strict rules are the answer, but I agree clearcut rules are most certainly a million times better than wishy-washy shit.

I agree that is one thing that really does annoy me.  The multiplatform threads (like Assassin's Creed, GRID, DiRT for instance) should be where 360 and PS3 owners come together to enjoy something of mutual interest.  Instead, people come in and preach the superiority of Uncharted, GT5 and Forza 2.  Shits me off.

Yet here at Evilbore where there are no rules and nobody takes things to seriously, such a thread is enjoyable.  So I don't know the answer.  If the members of the board don't pay attention to such garbage, it tends to just go away.

No one actually talks about games there now anyway. It's all sales, news and pseudo technical bullshit from people who don't know any better. You can't actually talk about gameplay because one of those "arguements" always comes up.

That's why I got banned. Someone posted "lets give unofficial theme songs to video game characters", so I posted "ITT: gamefaqs". then it turns out he DID post the same topic there yet I was banned. Sure I was shitting up the thread but seriously now.

It's almost fascinating to watch the hypocrisy and double standards there. It's no big loss though, I this place anyway
