The only thing I do wish is that Sony's guys didn't all make the leap from platformer to shooter. I am happy that Infamous does seem to be a bit different, but it still seems like it will be a shooter; not that this stops Infamous from looking incredibly awesome, but more variety would be nice.

Personally, I would like to see Naughty Dog make a new kart racing game on PSN. It could even star Jak, except in a kart racer and not Jak X.

The only thing that I think Microsoft is really doing bad is forcing Bungie to keep making those Halo games; or even in general just whoring out the franchise.

I think it was absolutely the right choice for Sucker Punch, though. They needed to cut away from Sly, and they sound pretty passionate about Infamous. Going by what we've seen, I also think they have done a much better job transitioning from platformer to "gritty realism," as infamous seems to retain the comic book feel and the acrobatic aspect of Sly despite being a very different game. Insomniac seemed to try too hard to fit into the existing FPS, which made for a game that was less interesting than the recent Ratchet games. Still, as is obvious from Ratchet TOD, they too needed to make that transition.

And it's somewhat ironic that we can complain about infamous being too much of a shooter, when professional game critic reception went along the lines of "so, you can't shoot guns?"

I am not entirely sure what the entire situation is, but even excluding Bungie, there are two other Halo properties being worked on for the 360. It isn't quite at the Mario whoring level yet, but I still find it ridiculous in some ways.

I hope whatever Halo game they develop next starts fresh. Super soldier fighting aliens on alien worlds, good. Super Righteous Sword fighting terrorists and attempting to halt a new age of cleansing, let Halo 3 be the end of that.

An action packed game with just enough story to keep things flowing in the right direction, that's where it's at.

Oh yeah, and lots of outdoors, and no indoor crap. The outdoor battles in Halo 3 were of Halo CE caliber. Unfortunately, the same is true for everything taking place indoors.

Er, how is Resistance being "milked?" There aren't any sideshows, and the sequel adds a ton to the game. I don't consider Halo "milked" either; three games between 2001 and 2007, not so bad. It might, in the future. Halo Wars, the PJ project, the movie, whatever that Halo squad based game is, that could be considered milking. But we don't know anything about those games.

edit: I guess there's the PSP Resistance, so maybe it's getting there.

Every franchise that does more than break even gets milked this generation. Halo is in the process of the milking. Resistance, if the sequel sells decent, will begin the milking process. The same can be said for Killzone or hell, any game. I remember the whining over milking last generation but people have now accepted it. I blame the rampant Mario milking and the Guitar Hero milking. People have finally accepted it and all franchises are going to be whored out as hard as possible.

I have avoided PoliGAF for months. It is pretty much a wasteland. Everyone at PoliGAF thinks they are Jon Stewart or Steven Colbert: rarely funny, hair trigger tempered, constantly outraged, and one note. You can determine how all PoliGAF threads go down before you even read the thread.

That was part of the original agreement to break off from Microsoft--right of first refusal. I guess that clause is Microsoft's ace in the hole.
