It is kinda suspicious how these global studio guys have managed to make 5 official threads now (NFS, Turok, LBP, MGS4, & R2), all of which have broken subsequent precedents on far a official thread goes. But that in of itself doesn't prove them to be viral marketers

I don't expect Evilore to say "Its true, I sanction shilling and virals on my site." His response is pretty much what I figured it would be. He knows that developers go on GAF. He's proud of that fact (after all, how many gaming boards are up for years that never get a mention ever?) and probably wants it to keep booming in popularity. By allowing virals to make megathreads, more developers will go on GAF and pay Tyler to make their own megathread. These threads are big enough to where hundreds of copies of a game might be sold that would not have otherwise.

Then all you have to have is a harsh modding team that bans anyone from speaking out. Let the blind fanboys call these independents a troll and a shill for the competitor. With that, the defense force can do all the work for the publisher.

I'm in favor of official publisher threads but I think Evilore thinks that it will seem too obvious and people will start leaving once they find out that publishers are setting up shop in a gaming forum. He just wants people to assume that it is just genuine hype.

Can't blame him though. I'd love to make a megathread if I was getting a few hundred bucks for it.

If I make a websearch for the name of the design entity I used for a number of years, part of the search results would show various game related images, and a few would pop up from a directory that a friend of mine used. I've hosted stuff for friends in the past, because I had a host and they didn't. The fact that it was by server association connected to a professional marketing entity didn't mean much, nor would it have meant anything had I made an official thread with image hosting on my server. That would be me applying whatever professional skills I have to a fan thing.

But then again, the majority of you clowns called me a viral marketer too, so hey. Your viral marketer sniffing skills are quite shit, and they don't seem to ever improve much. This behavior is borderline Republican.

Well, I'm all for trolling of critics. After all, these are people who for some reason or the other have decided that they should criticize, and be acknowledged for it, so some shit flung their way is great. But those amateurs don't even know how to, they just go straight into knee-jerk/conspiracy mode, with the occasional "it's not about the score" thrown in there. Huh? I've never said anything about the review, other than that he fucked up when talking about things that have changed for the sequel. Which wouldn't look so bad if it wasn't baked in the shape of his supposed personal experience with these things in the first game. It's nowhere near as bad as Eurogamer's "Hailstorm" crap, but someone who spends his time writing reviews should probably be careful of making stupid errors in his own critical take of something. Of course, with the Sonytards being the amateurs they are, it's not a problem.

The review itself sounds really positive (too positive, based on my limited experience with the MP), which again suggests that it's mostly about the score to people. That, and Xtard presence. Me, I'm purely interested in skewering the critic for no reason other than that I enjoy doing that.

Oh please, you get it. It's not a good enough score, relative to what they have given other games. I'm pretty sure that's the reasoning, and let's not pretend that it's a coincidence or due to some alien mindset that it's Sony fanboys that feel jilted over review scores. Blame it on fanboys for being overtly sensitive, but we really shouldn't pretend that critics are without blame here, what with critics turning a blind eye to flaws in one game while being overtly critical of the next. It's a human action, but then so is the reaction. It's not necessarily always platform specific, as the fanboys would have you believe, but it's also not a myth, as the favored side would suggest.
