I'm sick to death of any techno that sticks to "4 on the floor" the entire time with cheesy synth melodies.  Bring on the glitch, IDM, microsound, etc.

Never got into IDM for some reason... not only that I think it's a silly term for the genre of music ("Intelligent" dance music? WTF?). I like my music more 'orderly' for lack of a better term. I could go for hours on end listening to straight 4x4, I don't really care.

What's microsound?

Microsound is closer to sound art than actual music...very conceptual, almost inaudible if you're not listening closely.  Bleeps, lots of dead space, some sound scape type stuff.  I suck at describing it.   I agree, so many years later the genre "IDM" sounds ridiculous, but it caught on somehow.

no, its more of a Blackmage accidentally linked a bad porn/racist pic, which is spoilered earlier in this thread, and then seen his mistake and removed it. But some peeps caught it and called for his head. One guy linked to his accidental pic posted via a link.  BM, being the lovable guy he is, was trying to act like he was being framed (yet had sent a snarky pm to the guy calling for him to be banned) And mentioned the issue here. The person calling for his head posted the pm and mama robotnik screenshotted his posts HERE and posted them on GAF as evidence to please ban BM.

Nah, I don't think it is some magical place where all is right with the world, but it is certainly my board of choice.

The strict moderation there keeps things civil, and sure there are unnecessary casualties (I've personally been banned for things I didn't think were proper and stated my cases to the mods in PMs), but the place has a good community and suits my needs.

I just think a thread where people are just tearing down GAF events is a bit silly.

As previously stated, I don't read anything else on this forum except this thread occasionally, so for all I know everywhere else is fine.

I see EB as less of a separatist site from gaf and more like "take posts from gaf and discuss/analyze them the way we want without dictatorial modding."  I'm guilty of plenty of just-plain-bitching in this thread though.  on the other hand, I mine the gaming side for shit worth discussing here (since all the up to the second game news is there.) 

Of course, when shit goes down there with EB'ers who are also gaffers, we talk about it here too.  Especially when it's hilarious, like in BlackMage's case.

And hell, some of us genuinely despise what GAF has become. A haven for wankers, tattletales and want-to-be-elite who somehow think they are unique and GAF because hey, they post on GAF, irrespective of how much the forum has changed in only the past few years. From the "Oh man, only on GAF lol! Don't mess with the GAF, lol! You go, authority, you ban them good (even if the subject was posting a genuinely funny and/or clever thing, because hey, it was sort of against the rules that have effectively castrated the forum), awesome wowsome lol" to the "you better edit that, or you will be banned from GAF, the most important of all gaming communities, how could you go on living after that?" it's more than obvious what that place has become. Some will like it, others get pushed out against their will, and others decide that the community is not for them, so they leave on their own. I don't have a problem with any of the moderators there, but the moderation climate is not what I want from a forum.

That people here, many of them ex-GAFers, would be obsessed with the board is hardly surprising. In some cases, it might be because they are "homesick," but in most cases it's probably a matter of observing what in the hell has happened to that community over the years. GAF these days = jävla fittstim. But if they like it, hey.

GAF isn't too bad.  It's basically a news site with a fleshed out comments section, not so much a discussion forum.  The only interesting discussions over there are usually between a troll and a fanboy, and both sides are too stupid to ultimately reach some kind of ending other than to call for bans.

GAF has its strong points.  The volume of discussion there is pretty huge and there's always someone out there that has similar tastes to you.  I thought I was the only guy that liked the Musou series in the US until GAF had a few threads where several gaffers defended the game.  I agree that it is pretty good with gaming news (although I don't see a thread talking about SK and Sega) and those stories are posted pretty quickly.

I also like the fanboy bickering.

It is just that quality discussions are long since gone.
