The theory is, Nintendo's last E3 conference was a counterattack to an attack from MICROSOFT that never came. Rumors were rapant that MICROSOFT was ready to announce a motion-control peripheral of their own, and Nintendo's entire conference that year was a response to that perceived threat. Nintendo even pre-empted MICROSOFT's conference with the announcement of WiiMotion+. If you parse the words of Nintendo's event, it seemed as if Nintendo was responding to a competing motion-control peripheral.

But, as we now know, the battle never took place because MICROSOFT didn't go on the offensive. And so, Nintendo's E3 conference that year was an aggressive response without any provocation. Nintendo was probably very relieved to see that neither MICROSOFT or SONY had any intentions of, you know, actually competing. So, seeing no need to put out quickly, WiiMotion+, and all of its games, were delayed.

This year, there has been a lot of talk from Nintendo representatives that the company will bring "teh games." And from a business strategy point of view, I see no reason to doubt them. Whether or not they will be games you care about is, of course, subjective.

So there ya go, that first segment pretty much confirms what I've recently suspected about this reviewer. That is, although he's good at what he does, no doubt about that, he is, ultimately, nothing more than the shrill up-market gamer indulging in the same delusion. I didn't think this to be the case when I first started watching his video reviews, but notice, in this review, he gives further credibility to Malstrom's observation: all "hardcore," or, if you prefer, "hardlycore," gamers conflate "casual gaming" with "distinguished mentally-challenged gaming." Like the dinosaur so oblivious to the meteor's impending strike, Yahtzee is so easy a symbol of the elitism, ignorance, and stupidity of the up-market gamer today. Yahtzee is the past, his video reviews are already relics. And this would be all ok for me if he was still entertaining, but the age of his thinking has tired me. I've moved on from the past.

I wanted to go last year, to the Chicago date. A friend of mine went to that show, and a couple others. He said the performances were kinda hit and miss - like some people were amazing (Q-Tip, Meth/Redman, Rakim) while others were disappointing (Ghost/Rae, Nas, Jay Electronica, DOOM's one fake show, etc).

You know, I'll defend Uncharted on the basis of it being a very good game that has due to fanboy warz been given an undue amount of shit, or at least failed to be recognized as the good game it is, but I can not for the life of me understand how it can be a favorite of the generation. It just doesn't seem to have anything that special going for it.

Heavenly Sword probably is one of my favorite next gen games   I've played through it a bunch of times.  I think the combat is different enough and fun.  It's a nice, short, beat-em-up-ish length so you don't get tired of the mechanics.  The setting is a bit different.  The VA and shit is pretty nice.  The technical issues might kill it for a lot of people, but I loved it. 

It was also the first game I played in HD at home, if that makes a difference.  I'd love a sequel to it.

Last gossip I heard was that dev was showing off some multi-platform scifi game (possibly with sega attached).  That was like a full year or more ago, though.
