The animation is nice. Movies from the Aladdin and Little Mermaid era also weren't as good as Cinderella and Snow White. I don't know if the newer Disney movies used rotoscoping as much as the old ones did, so I think that is part of it.
The only appeal of the movie right now is that it's a 2D Disney film. The only other things you can grasp from the trailer were that it was set in New Orleans and was an ironic twist on a classic fairy tale. One of those is mostly likely just a timely decision, the other just seems a bit like those C-grade 3D movies like Hookwinked. It could end up good, I just don't see the appeal past 2D, which doesn't get me so excited.
