I go against my upbringing when I tip - I tend to tip too much. I've even had two separate bartenders close out my tab before I could tip, because they felt guilty taking my tips.

But if someone treats you right at a services job, for Christ's sake, tip the person. They get paid crap and put up with some of the worst people on the planet.

10% if it was awful service, 20 to 40% if I liked the service and 50 to 60% if it was awesome (and I usually lean towards 50% at bars).

And yes, I've had like $80 tabs where I tipped $40 before.

Almost anyone who's had to depend on tips at one point or another usually tips well for adequate service.

Fuck people who never tip. It's even worse when people tip a pittance. I'm glad I waited tables back before credit/debit cards totally got their shit together. I added a zero many times on the 'tip' line.

I'm always generous to bartenders, and they return the favor. Ask Disposable White Guy, my brother or anyone who drinks with me - my tabs are usually half of what they should be. I get free drinks all the time, as well. And generous shots.

I mean, for my birthday, when I went to my local watering hole, we barely had to pay for anything. Most of the bar staff paid for all my drinks, and did drinks with me.

I tip very well when drunk.  It paid off when I generously tipped a bartender and when returning a couple of weeks later - I paid $5 for a pitcher of Blue Moon instead of the Bud Light everyone else got.  I found out basically it was because of the tips I gave him.

I suspect GAF hates tipping because it is a social custom and generally, they typically dislike said customs.  They just want to get their pizza and scurry off before they might miss a WOW raid.

I usually tip big if I get the chance.  If I go with a group or friends and they want to split the tip, I won't go out of my way to give a bigger share and instead conform to their less than satisfactory tipping ways.  The biggest tips I give are at the place where I get my hair cut.  Considering I get my haircut every three months and have been going for a few years, It's good to keep the people there in good spirits about me.  Well, I do tip big, but if I can avoid tipping by doing something myself, I'd rather do that.  That's not so much against tipping others and more thinking things are done right only when I do them.

I'm sorry but eating is my priority when going out, not helping someone pay their bills. They can fuck off if I don't have enough to give an adaquete tip, but I'll try to give as much possible.

I tip generously when I go to the barber because I've been going to the same barber, whenever I'm in Houston that is, since I was 3-4 years old. So, due to my history with the people over there, I always want to tip at least 5 or so at times. And I always get a basic haircut. No point in shampooing or shaving when I can do it myself.
