No, it really isn't. Yakuza is a more streamlined and mainstream take on what Shenmue kinda set out to do. It feels like shenmue lite.

Still, I love it for the curb stomping, and ass kicking. best sega game in years.

Yeah, it is much better than Shenmue.  Really great game.  I am still hoping we get the sequel.
