AN EVIL GUY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD
but first for some reason you must collect the GUNS TO HELP
then you will face random gory enemy battles first-person style, a million frags over.
but wait
THE GUY WITH THE BROWN HAIR IS REALLY EVIL...oh noez I thought he was a good guy!?
rinse cycle repeat...go away with your boring FPSes America or at least do them turn-based I'm just tired of that crap.
FPS > Your whole life
Nothing beats walking around and shooting shit. I like the new ones with the ragdoll physics. Good shit.
well he's banned right now, but whatever...
I like all kinds of games, and am a big fan of all the genres I spoofed there. Only, I believe that making lousy generalizations on just one that contrasts isn't exactly a sensible thing to do, since every genre is a victim of redundancy and of a lack of creativity. When a game becomes popular there's always a "gold rush" with all other editors, that's all there is to it, no need to rant like a pseudo-bigot to appear edgy.
I love FPSes greatly, play them since having first experimented Wolfenstein 3D, and I agree with your ragdoll physics comments. Recently I played Painkiller: Hell Wars on Xbox and it has Havok physics implemented, and it's a totally mindless FPS like the original Quake was. It makes everything SOOO much better, it feels more like a cartoon. It's lightning-fast, brutal and AMAZING.
Consoles RPGs to me have always felt like videogame iterations of Fighting Fantasy books, it just emulates the dice, pen and paper and words on the pages, and the monsters, heroes and villagers depicted come alive on screen. I don't see why there wouldn't be some small place for a little bit of everything to become a pleasing escape/metaphor for us to forget the depressing melancholy of our lives.
