Gmail chat

I use gmail for my mail and I leave it open all day at work, but now my new boss uses gmail too and he's using the chat function to talk to me during the day

if you disable javascript gmail will give you a warning about your browser not supporting it and ask you if you want to use it with basic html or something to that extent, so you won't be logged in the chat.

on firefox you can disable it under content under tools > options. disabling it is also useful when sites try to block you from saving their images.

You can disconnect from Gmail chat while leaving the e-mail functions open.

I find the chat a bit annoying to leave on, anyway. It's just not as easy to use as MSN or AIM.

I leave it on to chat with my brother and sisters back home sometimes

I leave it on because it's the only IM that some people will use.  My brother won't use an IM program, but if he sees me logged in to my google account, he drops me a line.

I always keep the chat function off. Hell, I don't even use AIM anymore, that's how tired I am of online chatting.

Winner winner chicken dinner.  I blitz check my gmail so I don't get cornered by people on chat.  I suppose I could turn it off, but I'm just THAT LAZY.

My boss puts 'office' as his notice in gmail. I thought if I did the same and then left it open a while at home after I finish work he will think I'm working late and thus have a better image of me. lol.
