I was at my nerd peak late in the PSX and N64 (or early into the PS2, XBox, GameCube) generation. I had a huge collection from both during and before my time across all different platforms. SNES, Genesis, PSX, N64, Gameboy, GameGear, Virtual Boy, NES, 32X, all sorts of shit between my brother and I. The memory of some of these games, as nerdy as it seems, I don't think I will ever forget. Maybe not because the games themselves were all that great (some of them were rather bad) but rather the point in my life that I played them. It's odd. For example whenever I play The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time's Deku Tree temple I remember the first time I played it I was laying in bed hoping my friend would call me and we could go swimming in her pool. I was like 8 years old. Whenever I play the water temple I have deja vu of when I played the water temple after having come back from a few hours of swimming at the same friends house.
Sega Saturn had a game called Powerslave... it was shit but you could unlock a game called Death Tank which is similar to Worms or maybe Geometry Wars (i've never played Geometry Wars so I'm just guessing). My brother and I played that shit in out living room for hours. You could also unlock the game if you had Duke Nukem and a Quake save on your Saturn.
I had a Sega Nomad and Shining Force 2. After my parents divorced I remember laying in bed at my dads apartment on the weekend before he remarried playing it. The fuck, Sega? Why can't you come out with a proper sequel to Shining Force III?
