are you mashing the button out of anger?

Mashing is usually used when referring to hitting more buttons than once. I assume the game is actually just telling you which  button to press, and at what time to press it. Which I have admitted CAN be difficult, but I hardly find the button presses in the mini-game any different than the many you make to jump or swat things with a fly swatter.

If anything it should be easier since its telling you when to do it to win :)

One of the best if not THE best 2D fighting game series of all time. The PSP port of #Reload is brilliance.
Finally something we both can agree on. :)

I was after a while in that Matrix minigame.  It's funny, the characters usually give you advice on what you're supposed  to do throughout the game, but there wasn't any pop-up for that.

Mashing is usually used when referring to hitting more buttons than once.

I know, like in fighting games.  I just didn't know what other term to use.

I assume the game is actually just telling you which  button to press, and at what time to press it. Which I have admitted CAN be difficult, but I hardly find the button presses in the mini-game any different than the many you make to jump or swat things with a fly swatter.

Yeah, but I guess I just don't like being led by the nose like that.  I understand that platformers and most other types of games structurally do the same thing, but at least there's the illusion of choice, and  you do have a certain amount of freedom in how you achieve the goal of getting from point A to point B, or how you defeat your enemies.  I also don't like having to repeat an entire minigame just because I accidentally hit the wrong button with the edge of my thumb.

I think the lack of 'tutorial' for the mini-games has to do with them not really being a 'part' of the main game. Its a flaw, I agree.

I just dont see the difference between the steam gauge sequence and killing a giant bug. I think of the two the steam thing can be the most frustrating because its easy to lose your cool and just botch it, but starting over is quick.
