They are remaking Escape From New York starring Mr. 300 Screaming guy, Butler.

Duh its cheesey. But does that take away from the fact its a 80's classic? And again without it PS3 fans wouldn't have their beloved MGS 4.

and if you are denying MGS ripped off EFNY you have never seen it. The Snake in the movie looks like Solid Snake, sounds exactly like solid snake, acts exactly like solid snake. Oh and he is sent on a mission from the government alone in a MGSy way. The PLOT is not taken from the movie but the character of Solid Snake is taken from the Snake of this movie, there is no way to deny that.

Tell me this ISN'T solid snake:

Yes. He has. I think it was in an OPM interview last year, but I think he's said it more than once.

Hopefully it will be good but escape from newyork is a classic so if it sucks ass there will be hell to pay.

It doesn't even need a remake even. The move still holds up incredibly well.

It was actually better than the original, which is pretty much a mess (save for that little girl getting shot in the face, that is awesome!).

This news sucks. Phoenix Dark is just being a moron, because Escape from New York is a bonafide four star movie of balls-out awesomeness. Remaking it seems silly and it's out of the blue, as just a few months ago, Carpenter and Russell were trying to do Escape from Earth.

Escape from L.A. gets a bad wrap too. Sure, it's not as good as the original, but it's a pretty solid, entertaining film. It even has Bruce Campbell. And a good score too.

Also, more often than not, Cheebs, remakes are bad. That's like saying, "Hey, 1-out-of-4 remakes are good - let's give it a chance!" Let's not.

Actually, I announced the Scanners remake and was very skeptical of it. However, I'm not adverse to remaking mediocre films with good concepts. This simply isn't the case for Escape from New York. There are a lot of films out there that should be remade, why start with the good ones?
