I'm in your hills, you fucked up my car. First Accident
« on: March 19, 2007, 07:01:02 PM »
Not even a week and i've already done busted my car. I was driving in the foothills trying to get a feel for them when i noticed a speedy son of a bitch behind me. So i pulled over into a turnout area that was old and fucked up. I hit a nice little bump and my instraments stoped working. I'm 30 miles from home without any speedometer to tell me how fast i'm going or how hawt my engine is.

So I take it safe and drive slower down the hills and windy turns. I get to a nice straight away that becomes a freeway. Now i'm speeding up to what i feel is 60 mph. On the opposite side of the road theres a CHP giving out a ticket. I slow down, and continue on the freeway. I'm two exits away from my turnoff and the CHP's lights are going crazy behind me in my rearview. He's gaining quickly on me. I'm shitting balls thinking oh fuck I was speeding.

I take a breath as I begin to signal to make my turn. When he gets off my tail and takes off into the highspeed lane driving like a bat out of hell. Swerving to get out of the exit lane. I bite the bullet and didnt get a ticket. I"m so fucking lucky... I got home called up Lexus, its gonna cost 400 bucks to fix the instramentation. I guess the bullet still got to me either way. But the good news is they are going to install an auxillary input for my stereo. So now I wont have to worry about that anytime soon.

400 bucks?  did they say what was wrong?  It's probably something easy that you can do yourself for much cheaper.

the controler box fried from bad wiring. So while it might illuminate it doesnt give the proper information at all. I'm not very technical with cars. So i'm not keen about going in and doing some operating on my vehical. Plus the 400 covers the aux and overall tune up and rotation of tires. So its worth it. But its 400 bucks out of my computer fund.

Well i found out it wasnt my fault that the instramentation died on my car. Seems that the sensors wore out and it was just time to replace. After having 134K miles on the car i guess something was bound to fuck up. But the problem is i've now got to pay for all new gauges and sensors. Each one is like 80-90 bucks on top of the 400 bucks i payed them this morning.  :-\

Good news though i found a mounting kit for my stereo. So i'm going to frankenstien my car out a bit and put a new stereo inside it when i get a chance. I'm also gonna fix a few things that arent working. Like my antenna mast (bent and wont go up even though the motor is still working for the mast) and subwoofer (loose wiring) So those things will save me money. Took me 3 days but i finally found places on the web with excellent help. Too bad they cant improve my gas mileage (fucking winter blend gas)
