I think they'll release in spring considering how well Dead Rising did last year and that absolutely every PS3 owner will buy it and many 360 owners.

the release date wasn't announced yet but you have to consider there's A LOT coming out this holiday (starting in fucking June with Mass Effect!) so hopefully it's a spring release.

I'm really not surprised by this news, it appears to be Capcom's new strategy in this expensive high definition generation to go multiplatform/neutrali. DMC4 should do well on the 360 here in North America, but I don't see anything other than Final Fantasy being 360 exclusive helping sales over in Japan. And, hey, bring on the Lost Planet PS3 port!

In any event, Sony REALLY needs to think about dropping the price of the PS3, or they're screwed in North America.

This thing must have been simmerring under the the pot but hell, I'm still surprised by it. Capcom seem very serious when it comes to increasing revenue when it comes to their franchises. Looking at the install bases for both systems...releasing one of their "Gem" titles on just the PS3 wouldn't have been good.

If I get this job, I'll probably get a PS3 at some point but the amount of games exclusive for it are being widdled down (as far as 3rd party). It should be interesting to see what happens with MGS4

Oh demi!

But yeah, the Euro shipment of PS3s is getting a new PS3 revision. It has the GS (PS3 GPU) with new connection to fit with the Cell. The EE (Emotion Engine) is being emulated by the Cell. This is going to drop the compatability percentage down. By how much? Don't know exactly....but Harrison stated they've got 1200 games working (not sure if thats PS2 and PSX or just PS2).

The Emulator will work like 360 BC emulation in that it can be updated with other games as they work on it. The upside is that there may be visual upgrades via Software emulation.

Essentially, its always been in the plans to take out the EE to save on manufacturing costs. So its not a spur of the moment thing. Whats surprising is how quickly Sony have been going about it, which shows that its probably not as mature as they want it to be (the emulation).

It remains to be seen if this can drop some bones off the PS3's price (so it can be competative again).

I've said it before and I'll say it again! PS3 was meant for an '07 launch!

On topic, Monster Hunter 3 also went to 360. It's very popular in Japan but not in US. The explanation given is that since 360 has so many units sold it'll make it's money back.

Was Monster Hunter 3 actually confirmed? All I can find on it are rumors created by Japanese "make a petition" websites. Regardless, it's not a bad idea if it allows both 360 and PS3 owners the opportunity to play the game.

DMC4, like MGS4, was seen as an exclusive that would most likely stay with Sony. This seemed to become more clear when we found out Lost Planet was a 360 exclusive. With DMC4 moving to the 360 you have to think that MGS4 could make the jump too. And if it does, what's the point of getting a PS3 within this year?

The Xbox 360 is quickly becomming the true gaming system of this gen. No gimmicks. No medium fabs. Just games.
