CRAP. The elite is going to REPLACE the premium. This means I'm going to have to get the core. Fucking shit. This means, a core + hdd + wireless controller.

SCREW YOU MS. The hdd costs 199.99 by itself, too!

Anyways, someone at SA said that while elite is replacing premium, they'll still be selling premium's for a limited time. Will it also get a price drop in the meanwhile?

Sounds like it's only a rumour, though - and even then, they'll just be pricing the Elite at $400 by the end of the year.

All things considered, I don't think there'll be an official price drop before then, but retailers may be dropping the price just to get the premiums out the door so they can stock up on the Elites. I do wish MS would just announce something, though.

I think Premium will be dropped down $50, the Elite priced at around $450 and possibly dropping the Core to $250. A moderate shift price wise.

I'm still pretty dubious about all this, to be honest. I'm not convinced that MS would fuck up their position by putting out a new SKU at $480 - it seems ill considered, and I don't think they're making many dumb moves of late...

No the black zephyr (HDMI and 120 GB HDD) is going to be a limited edition and for that reason and no other, the rumor is that it's only going to have a couple hundred thousand made. The zephyr will then go down to a normal price and become white because there will probably be enough people willing to pay $80 for a color.

I think during the same period that the zephyr is being sold, the premium version will also be sold still for $400 but yeah, you won't get a version with HDD under $400 for a while.

The main point is that the core is going to DIRECTLY compete with the Wii considering it's price (Nintendo's going to drop definitely still), Halo 3, and GTA 4. It's very posible that 360 will get NA.

MAF, shane kim has pretty much confirmed a zephyr and the other rumors are based on gamestop's own price drops.

Yes, but the 'proof' everyone is pointing at are the ripples in the water, not whats making the ripples.

Im not saying its not possible, im saying its dumb to get all worked up over things that arent actually proven yet. I figure just chill and see which way the market goes. Getting emotionally invested in not only the choices large corporations make but also the 'rumors' created by 'amature' market analysts isnt good for a persons hobby.

If its confirmed then you can have feelings ;-) I am more surprised people didnt get more upset about PS3's choice to remove backward compatibility. Right now the PS3 kinda depends on the PS2's massive library to give people a reason to use it at all.

I mean I love VF5 but the PS3 for me IS a VF5 machine at this point.
