I am fully supporting this thread. I have watched the film 4 times now - once in theatres, 3 times on DVD - and my opinion of it has gone from "meh" to "hey, this is actually pretty good" to "fracking sweet" to "this is Nolan's best film by a landslide, and one of the best films of 2006!". It is, for me, the definition of a "grower". I gain newfound respect and discover more layers with each viewing.
Also, I too loved the Chinese magician bit. I really loved how Angier was looking for something supernatural or overtly complex, while Borden picked out the gag straight away. That was the difference between the two, as was shown repeatedly throughout the film. As Cutter said perfectly, Angier was a decent magician and a great showman, while Borden was no showman, but was a fantastic magician.
