Not a fan? I love his shit. Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, and especially Magnolia are favorites of mine. Didnt like Punch Drunk Love though.

I think all his movies tend to run long, and I heard that he was high during most of the filming/editing of Punch Drunk Love.

and as much as I like those other movies, Punch Drunk Love is still my favorite.

It was just so affecting to me, and I'm still not sure why.  It presented its damaged protagionist in such a marvelous way that it just struck me deeply, its also pretty dang funny/scary.

It helps to think of it as what a romantic comedy would look like if any of them actually occured in a world like the one we live in.

I'm not sure what's gonna be the movie of the year.  It's dicey to say something definitively in March.  For example, last year Children of Men wasn't even on my radar this early and it ended up being the best thing since sliced bread, basically.
