20/20 is pretty good tonight

John Stossel's "Enough" show is always interesting. Yeah he has some out there opinions, but I've always found him funny.

There are links to some of the stuff that was covered tonight

Basically the show covered a bunch of outrageous issues, and put the spotlight on people trying to fix them. So for instance there was a story on the over-glamorization of shoes, and how Stephon Marbary is combatting it by offering $15 shoes that are just as durable and good as $150 Jordans. Also talked about Christian organizations that are basically stealing from their members.

There was a feature on the "baby's mama" issue in the black community, which I thought was interesting. Basically Stossel brought up the fact that before the mid 60's the black family was very strong, but once LBJ introduced various government help programs like welfare things started going downhill, especially when mothers realized they could get more money from the government by not marrying.

I've heard this argument before, and it definitely has merit. Although it's not the only reason for the shattering of the black family. The 60's also saw the introduction of illegal drugs to inner neighborhoods, which destoryed many cities like Detroit. And then there's the "white flight" aspect with respect to city property/real estate/tax bases.

I like john he's a good reporter i just wish he was on a channel where he can express himself more liberally. He's a good counter point to the bullshit that is modern journalism and media in todays world.

Correlation does not equal causation. During the 60's there were also major cultural, social, and legal changes. Let's not forget contraception. Also, a number of countries with more generous entitlement programs have lower out-of-wedlock births than America.

He says a lot of stuff that gets people mad, and he's not afraid to cover controversial stuff. So many people get upset when he calls out bullshit for what it is

Pfft. I'm not a fool: I realize those weren't the only factors. But since I'm black I couldn't help but choose two factors that put the blame on white people. And Colombians.
