Is Echoes Floyd's greatest song of all time?
« on: March 24, 2007, 04:03:45 AM »
It's definitely their most epic song, without a doubt. 23 minutes. It features some of the most beautiful playing I've ever heard, and the vocals perfectly compliment them. Mixed together they create an almost dream like atmosphere that's totally calm, yet wonderfully powerful.

Shine On (You Crazy Diamond) might be my favorite Pink Floyd, but then again there are so many songs that qualify.

I'm listening to the Meddle album right now. While it's definitely not their best album, it features some amazing compositions. Echoes obviously is the best song on the album, but I also find One of These Days and Fearless to be great songs. One of These Days has a truly menacing bassline that seems more Sabbath than Floyd.

Your ignorance is ruining my thread. Where's Malek to right your wrong?

I love Scorpions, especially Dio era, but this thread is dedicated to the best rock band of all time

I definitely can't argue with that. They have so many songs that are just too damn good.

The best Floyd song is anything where I don't have to hear Roger Waters' grating whiny voice.  "My father died once!"  Oh poor baby STFU already.

I dated a guy once who loved Pink Floyd. I wish I wasn't so naive then because I could have learned a lot from him.

Like the fact that Roger Waters' dad died in WWII?

...no, although that's pretty interesting.

I just didn't spend enough time with him for his musical taste to wear off on me, you know what I mean? We never saw each other except for practice, and we broke up after like 6 months or something lol. It's a shame though because I could have such a greater appreciation for Pink Floyd if I had been around him more. None of my other friends really like them.

*shrugs*  I think all you really need to do to get a basic appreciation for Floyd is to buy the Echoes Greatest Hits album thingy.  It's got every song mentioned in this thread on it.

I have it. But it doesn't have "Flaming", "Lucifer Sam", & "Matilda Mother". Great stoner tunes.
