Official Nights rumor thread

Seems the rumors might be true. Thing is, why is everyone so excited for this. Half of the people excited for this game haven't even played the original. So why the hullaballo. Why the excitement?

I try going back to Nights these days and it's almost unplayable.

People suggest that Miyamoto take the reins and do this? Bullshit. He'll make the easy an easy crap fest.

It just isn't that fun. It's stale. Doing speed laps around an enviroment can stay enjoyable for so long.

According to reliable sources - who wish to retain their anonymity - the 100% new NiGHTS for Wii has shifted developer from the Japan-based Prope to US-based Sonic Team.

The emergence of a brand new NiGHTS also appears to be confirmed by a third-party, in this case Gamereactor magazine and its April 2007 cover story (pictured right).

Prope was set-up by with initial SEGA funding by the former Sonic Team leader (and lead programmer on the original Sonic The Hedgehog), Yuji Naka . The current Sonic Team has been responsible for, among others, Sonic and the Secret Rings for Wii.

Naka is a close personal friend of Satoru Iwata, President and CEO of Nintendo, and a staunch advocate of Nintendo hardware. He was also paraded by Nintendo during its DS launches - and has been a keen advocate of Wii (back when it was still a Revolution)i. So, the reason for the Dev' move remains shrouded mystery.

Sonic Team connection, however, simply adds to the verbal confirmations we have already received regarding the fact that the latest NiGHTS game will be an entirely new property designed specifically for Nintendo's hard-to-find console.

Hahahaha. Good ol' Sega. First they give Shenmue to the Koreans to develop a shitty looking online game, and now they give Nights to American Sonic Team studio behind the abortions that are Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog ps3/360.

Well, at least there's not much to fuck up in Nights. All you do is fly around tracks getting chips trying to beat the clock.

Nights was a horrible game used to push that awful disc analog controller for the Saturn.

Proof art direction >>>>> Technology. Looks much more appealing than the muddy GTAIV screens, to me. Plus I loved the original NiGHTS.

How are the GTAIV screens muddy?

I think GTAIV has plenty of art direction to back up it's technology, but I guess that's because I'm biased. Even though the main character looks realistic, he has a disproportionate body, making him look kinda cartoony. It's a nice touch.

Nights was an extremely average, yet highly over rated game. I suppose it fits the Wii though
