Your SNES game list.
« on: August 26, 2006, 09:35:28 PM »
I've recently have become additced to the gay SNES and it's wonderful games.  WHAT DID YOU LIKE LOLZ so I can perhaps sample it or search about it...here's what my list is like so far:

Super Mario All Stars + World
Super Mario RPG: Legend of The Seven Stars
Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat II
Mortal Kombat III
Street Fighter II
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country II
Donkey Kong Country III
The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past

...that's pretty much it  :-\

I've never had an SNES, but I have played a few of its games in my time...

Super Mario All-Stars (if it counts)
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Street Fighter II
Donkey Kong Country
Super Mario Kart
Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Metroid
Tetris Attack
Starfox

Yea...all Nintendo stuff pretty much.

Played Chrono Trigger for a while and it was great...but I just stopped for no apparent reason. I don't remember.

Me too Juice...Chrono Trigger got boring to me after awhile.  I suppose after playing so many recent RPGs going back to that just wasn't clicking with me.  I suppose it was a "had to play then" kind of game that many gamers stuck in their heart.  There is literally no character development =\

No, this can't be happening! Fool the battle system was ahead of its time! Take later on in the game for instance, if you are a higher level then an enemy you encounter, it automatically wins and you get the exp without a battle!  Not even many current RPGs have used this idea, which was brilliant!

It was a very wierd game yes, but that was the point.  The game rocked, and still does.

I could see folks liking Earthbound if it was their first exposure to wacky jappy, but that doesn't make it good.

Massive? That's not even .01% of the folks on the internet who put on pantsless fox costumes and bugger each other.

The journalism crowd is crawling with the post-Gamefan wacky jappy fanbase. They'll play shit like Contact or Rhythm Tengoku and pretend that it's actually palatable to anyone that isn't functionally a manchild.

No seriously though earthbound is shit...if they changed the battle system to something real then we'll talk but I'm not a Japafag so I didn't get the point of just having the enemy picture and some weird music.

I have every single SNES game on my xbox. Auahahaha

I'm sure like 90% of them suck ass. I played 3 Ninjas Kick Back for around 5 minutes today. Terrible is too nice of a word to use when describing it.

I'm pretty sure it was for technical/budget reasons. I liked the music. :(

SNES had one hell of a sound synth. That is, if the devs knew how to take advantage of it. Otherwise it sounds like forgettable crap. Regardless, it's amazing how good some of the music is considering the age of the console. Chrono Trigger, for example.

Rock N Roll Racing.

More of a multiplay game. I recall the SP being a bit too easy.

Super Mario World: obviously fucking incredible.
Super Mario Kart: fucks games right up the ass still today.
Starfox: I'm not sure how it aged but it was a really good game when I was a kid.
Donkey Kong Country: pretty looking when I was a kid but there wasn't much gameplay.
Terminator 2: really good when I was a kid but I never could get past the sixth level so it might have a bit of a challenge.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtles In Time: some of the greatest co-op ever.
Batman Forever: not bad but not great.
Mario Is Missing!: geography game where you can't get killed but has charm and might be worth picking up for 50-75 cents.
Super Empire Strikes Back:fucking orgasmic once you write down all the codes to your favorite levels.
Krusty's Super Fun House: simpson's puzzle game that might be kind of fun.
Aladdin: really easy game but might be fun in some parts.
Super Street Fighter 2: won't stop playing this game once you become a god with a character so you should probably play it after the rest.

Surprised no one else has mentioned Tetris Attack. It has to be my longest-running multiplayer game ever. I've been playing against one of my friends going on almost 10 years now. We even make sure to play on college breaks and during the summer to keep the skills and streak going. It still hasn't gotten old.

In addition to the usual SNES classic that others have mentioned (and which I also love -- Super Metroid, Yoshi's Island, Mario Kart, FF6 etc.), I'm surprised that no one mentioned Smash TV, which was hella fun in co-op.

I completely forgot Smash TV and the Star Wars games, which I rented multiple times.  The Star Wars games were fun action platformers and Smash TV was just awesome.

I now remember that my SNES was so old that Mario RPG would freeze on me, which is why I never bought it.

My list of uber-awesome-under-the-rader SNES games

Faceball 2000 - Played this so much, especially the multiplayer. It was a First Person labrynth game with smilies that could shoot each other. Multiplayer was basically Deathmatch in mazes.

Zombies ate my Nieghbors - Awesome game that I wish there was a modern update of. Co-op was aces. Multiple weapons and many weapons worked better versus certain types of enemies. Like using the wheed wacker against the plant growths, or crosses versus vampires. Balloon dummies versus chainsaw maniacs.  If Dead Rising had co-op and more than just zombies, it might be like a ZAMN update.

Smash TV - Another great co-op game.  Though you can get a good version of it in the MAT.

The Interplay Games

Interplay rocked in the 16bit era before they blew up in the coming gen. Rock & Roll Racing was great, with midi classic rock music, a monster truck show announcer, upgradeable cars and, multiplayer and weapons.  The Lost Vikings was a neat little side scrolling puzzle game, that required using all three characters correctly and in the right order.  Plus, if you failed you got yelled at by Odin who had some funny lines. They also did Blackthorne, a fine adventure game and Boogerman... a basically disgusting action platformer. I liked the Clayfighter games as well, great characters and Clayfighter 2 had much improved gameplay and balance. A lot of their games were creative and not something I'd see today.  Then they went and screwed it up!
