Mario & Sonic olympic games (wii)

Quote
TOKYO (March 28, 2007) – SEGA® Corporation and Nintendo Co. Ltd. today made a historical announcement that two of the biggest icons in the entertainment industry, Mario™ and Sonic™, are joining forces to star in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Developed for the Wii™ video game system and the Nintendo DS™ system, this momentous agreement marks the first time these two renowned stars have appeared together in a game.

Published by SEGA across Europe and North America, and published by Nintendo in the Japanese market, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games will be available for Holiday 2007 and is licensed through a worldwide partnership with International Sports Multimedia (ISM), the exclusive interactive entertainment software licensee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, players will compete in events that take place in environments based on the official venues of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Using a supporting cast of characters from the amazing worlds of both Mario and Sonic, gamers will be able to compete as or against a range of lovable personalities including Mario, Sonic, Luigi™, Knuckles™, Yoshi®, Tails™ and more. Innovative usage of the Wii and DS control systems to maneuver a favorite character will allow players to race the likes of Mario and Sonic down the 100m track, engage in exhilarating rallies in table tennis and churn water in a swimming heat, all while competing for the much sought after gold medal.

“We are thrilled to partner with Nintendo and ISM on this groundbreaking title,” said Hisao Oguchi, President and Chief Operating Officer, SEGA Corporation. “For the first time, two of the world’s greatest games’ characters come together to compete in the world’s greatest sporting event and we couldn’t be more excited.”

“Mario and Sonic have been respectful rivals since the early days of video games,” says Shigeru Miyamoto, Senior Managing Director and General Manager, Entertainment Analysis and Development Division, Nintendo Co., Ltd.. “In fact, for a long time they have been discussing the possibility of one day competing against each other. Now that they have been given the perfect opportunity to meet at the Olympic Games, we may finally learn who is actually faster, Mario or Sonic?”

“The Olympic Games represent the true spirit of competition and passion,” said Raymond Goldsmith, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ISM. “Bringing together intensely competitive and fun characters like Mario and Sonic in an Olympic setting helps showcase the sports of the Olympic Games in a new and compelling way for all generations.”

Wii sports with more games?

They need to make a real game centered around Mario vs. Sonic.

No, it's more like I'm someone who's not under the influence of sucking his dick and being one of this sheep.

The guy will add nothing to the game. He'll be a PR man. Nothing more, and Ntards will get hyped up just because he's had "influence" on it.

The fact they're saying he'll offer some help is getting ntards hyped already.

As for WHY I think this, reference to this post:

Quote
Miyamoto:  This guy is even more overrated than Kojima,  like a million times more.  Just like Kojima, he is credited too many things that he didnt´t create.  Brain Training?  Who the fuck told you guys he created this?  This piece of shit is based on a book written by Professor Ryūta Kawashima.
Wii Sports?  I doubt the bastard had any participation in this, excepting his stupid PR.  Nintendo Dogs? Same as BT, Miyamoto had NOTHING to do with this, this game was a creation of Kiyoshi Mizuki.  Pikmin?  That shit was designed by two people, Shigefumi Hino and Masamichi Abe.  Basically, anything made by Nintendo, the nintards go "oh that was Miyamoto", even though he didnt do shit.

I actually think he is only Nintendo as a PR monkey and nothing more.  I even think that his "Happy go lucky" image is a fake to keep ninfans and the press happy.

Miyamoto is involved in this project, so it should be fantastic.

It's pr bullshit. His involvement will be meaningless, everyone knows that. Miyamoto has almost no direct involvement on game development anymore.

Everyone knows he didn't make Brain Training. Have you ever seen anyone credit him for it or are you just going by what that post says?

I don't know who's responsible for Wii Sports and obviously the person who wrote that post doesn't either.

Nintendo Dogs and Pikmin I didn't know about. Everything that I've ever read about them on sites like ign or gamespot makes it seem like he was the one behind these two games. So of course that's what people are gonna think. Maybe some game journalists should do their jobs better.

I guess they are just using him as a PR man nowadays, but games that mention his name usually turn out good.

I was the one that wrote that.  There are quite a lot of people that think Brain Training was created by Miyamoto.  Go to any nintendo forum.

How do I know that Nintendo fans credit Miyamoto for anything?  Because I USED to be a fricking Nintendo fanboy, that is why I know. In the N64 and Gamecube eras I thought Miyamoto was everything Nintendo (my ex-fellow fanboys thought the same way), until I REALLY got tired of their bullshit by 2004.  Then I started investigating a bit and all was crear to me.  I can´t believe I was such a tool.

For instance, do you guys REALLY think Miyamoto created Star Fox?  Everyone thinks thinks this way.  However, the game was directed and designed by  Katsuya Eguchi and Yoichi Yamada.  How do I know this?  Go finish star fox1 and see the mother effing credits.  I don´t even remember Miyamoto appearing on the credits, maybe he was a producer, but I am not sure, but yeah ninthings think he  made the game on snes.  Mario Party?  I can´t count the times I have been told the bastard created this shit......when in reality the game was made by fucking HUDSON.

Anyway, I don´t even think miyamoto is involved in this game, excepting his happy go lucky PR (which I think is bullshit anyway).  But of course, Nintendo has to put "Supervisor Shigeru Miyamoto" to keep the fans and press happy.

He wasn't behind either. He was the PR face of both. He was just a producer. The last time Miyamoto had significant involvement in a game  was Mario 64 & OOT.

Miyamoto hasn't "made" anything in years, but he's the face of Nintendo so he gets the credit. It's a shame that Nintendo isn't smart enough to start developing talent/friendly competition like they once did between Myamoto and the creation of Metroid, for instance. And it was the success of Rare's Donky Kong games that inspired Miyamoto to blow everything away with Mario 64

It is ignorant to think he has any significant impact on a game design in the last 10 years. Ruzbeh and way too many on gaf take the Nintendo pr line of Miyamoto way to easily.

Miyamoto taking credit for other people's work is absolute bullshit. Not once has he ever said something that made it seem like he did everything when he didn't. He's never said Brain Training, Animal Crossing, Wii Sports and the like were his creation. Read the interviews when he would discuss games like Majora's Mask and Wind Waker. He would always point to Aonuma saying most of the influence was from him.

And to clear up some misconceptions, the first Pikmin, and Nintendogs were pretty involved with him.

Sure, the guy doesn't do as much as he used to, but I'm just trying to set the facts straight. And when he actually goes on to say he's involved, then he's involved. End of story.

Well according to the credits of A Link to the Past, he only produced it.  The game was directed by other guy, Takashi Tezuka.  The director of Zelda 2 was Sugiyan Yamahen.  Seriously, many unknown people, and the fans have totally forgotten them.  I don´t even think that bastard directed the first zelda perse,  I will finish the game this night to see if I am wrong or not.

Oh shit.......what have I doooone

Go to any nintendo forum.

I think I found the problem. :lol

Btw, I never once thought Miyamoto had anything to do with Star Fox. From what I heard DS was Pimp Yamauchi's idea, and the Wii controller has two parts instead of one thanks to Retro.

You guys are saying a lot of bullshit that it sounds like you read it off gamefaqs or the nintendo forums.

If this was just Mario I am confident people's senses would spark up and they'd reject this deposit of mascot tomfoolery. But adding Mario AND Sonic together seems to be just the lethal combination needed to make normally reasonable people take the meaty Nindick up the arse. Nintendo should do this with all their more shit-tastic titles. Clearly everyone here would buy Nintendo Dogs if it allowed you to pet yer pet with Sonic in full furry on furry glory

Seems like everyone takes this argument towards Wii games nowadays, even when people avoid the facts, like how Sega Sports (who is awesome, may I add) is developing this along with Miyamoto as a supervisor–if we can infer that Miyamoto really IS overlooking its development (and when he truly does, the games are usually really great–Twilight Princess he actually was REALLY involved in), then I'm fairly certain this game will be better than you expect.
