Devil Wears Prada - Netflix Made Me Do It
« on: April 05, 2007, 12:20:41 PM »
I liked it.

Granted it was pretty predictable up until the end. Even then you knew the kinda of resolution that would be had, just not exactly how. What made the movie fun were all the insults. I wish I had a writer that wrote my lines for work so I could deliver scathing lines that make people cry. Also Meryl Streep did an awesome job with her character. It was never over the top but still oh so fucking cruel.

Also Anne Hathaway am hot.

I give this Two Phoenix Darks out of Ten.

yeah, it was cute for what it was and JAYSUS ANNE HATHAWAY HAS HUGE BOSOMS. i woulda liked it even more if they'd ditched the plot and just had a bunch of interleaved vignettes in the runway offices with people being ultra-catty.

So what if it's a chick flick? You don't have to pretend to act macho and be disgusted by chick flicks, we aren't 15 anymore.

It's not like we were sobbing when she got in a fight with her fry cook boyfriend.

Also yes, the Prestige was a badass movie.

A man isn't a real man unless he can admit to enjoying a chick flick now and then.

that depends on how far you consider a movie goes to become a chick flick

There's gotta be worse chick flicks out there than Devil Wears Prada.

Also:

The movie was making fun of them, so getting upset kinda misses the point.

see the legends of the fall was a chick flick, but i thought over all it was a good movie.

i'll sometimes watch that reality tv shit denise puts on there from mtv like real world and road rules, but anne hathaway in things like "the princess"  .... i mean come on there are limits

theres just something about that woman that really annoys the heck out of me.  i don't think she's hot in the least and she acts so damn annoying in every movie she makes.  i've just GOT to bitch about it!

As much as youre entitled to your opinion of Anne, it kinda invalidates your opinion about this movie. You seem kinda invested in the ANGER.

I was going to do a thread on this, but the bi-genderization of movies today has been a mixed bag. What I mean is, movies are more clearly written to appeal to both sexes. This has been great for chick flicks ... but awful for action movies. I would argue that chick flicks have never been greater. I would rather watch Devil Wears Prada 100 times over before I have to watch Dirty Dancing or Pretty Woman again. Even tripe like Failure to Launch is leagues better than Sleepless in Seattle.

That said, if I hear "Suddenly I See.." by KT Tunstall used in a montage for another movie/tv show, I will go postal.

It's become my mom's new favorite "I'm gonna watch this every other week" movie. That position was held by Fried Green Tomatoes for like a decade, and Waiting To Exhale before my dad hid it :lol
