so i went and saw 300 again, this time with my wife, because there's nothing else to do in port angeles, wa except smell the reek of the sea. anyway, we debated going to see blades of steel or whatever with will farrell, because the choice was that, 300, or that ice cube channels bill cosby movie which makes the ghost of eazy (mothafuckin) e rise up and choke a bitch in despair. we picked 300, but we discussed our mutual hatred of will farrell movies (excluding elf, which she likes for some unfathomable reason, probably having to do with estrogen) while we waited in line with a bunch of really depressed, quasi-hobo white teens. anchorman and talladega nights were both utterly unfunny and insipid, and considering those two movies led us to speculate what sort of stupid gross-out hijinks might occur if will farrell teamed up with the farrelly bros to film the lamest goofball grossout comedy OF ALL TIME.

we figured it would be called "lemon party" starring will farrell as an aging out-of-work gay porn actor with a longstanding dream to make the ultimate octogenarian gay porn flick of all time. along the way, he runs into tubgirl (played by sarah silverman) and falls for her despite his previous homosexuality (and what would a farrelly bros movie be without convenient deus ex machina), stealing her from gordon goatse (played by ben stiller). disgusting pratfalls and poop jokes ensue, many lols are had by the watching teens, and a scene where will farrell fellates ben kingsley seems initially shocking but drags on for ten minutes too long while farrell attempts his godawful improv schtick. morphix buys 35 copies of the blu-ray release and lets his twin brother cornhole him atop the stacked cases while the bleach op theme plays in the background.

My parents told me that when they were on the plane to Hawaii a few months ago they were forced to watch Crystal Lake or whatever it's called; the movie with Keanu and Sandra Bullocks. Ugh. Apparently the airlines justify this by offering up a vote, but the options are equally sucky - sort of like November 2004, but hundreds of miles above the ground

I rememeber my science class had pretty good taste - they collectively voted for Saving Silverman over Finding Nemo and Attack of the Clones. And when my english teacher decided to show RADIO I was quite glad that I was skipping that class to head off to see Return of the King.

Could have been the movie. I haven't seen it myself, but Will Farrell is pretty versatile in his roles. It's not like he's Adam Sandler playing the same character every movie. Starsky and Hutch? Zoolander? Talladega Nights? None of those movies tried to "make a point." Just good clean fun.

Like I said though I haven't seen Blades of Glory, and for all I know it could have been complete shit. I hate Heder so I'll agree with you there.

Radio is one of the worst movies of all time, and the fact that it killed Cuba Gooding Jr's career instead of bagging him an oscar is proof enough of god's existance. How hard is it to play a distinguished mentally-challenged person in a movie? So many decent actors have done it to great success, yet Gooding turns in one of the ugliest preformances ever.

And this is coming from a total sucker for sentimental movies.

Will Ferrel's main strength has always been TALKING REALLY LOUD.  The Weekend Update bit where he was physically unable to control his speaking volume, the Harry Carey skits, and the bit on Norm MacDonald's CD about the first men to have gay sex are all pretty fun.  Everything else not so much (the cheerleader skits were a huge warning sign, dammit).

Also, I really liked Vince Vaughn's schtick in Wedding Crashers.  It got weaker as it went along (opening > beach house > third act), but I enjoyed it.  It's kind of hard to argue either way cause it's just schtick, but I liked Caddyshack and Stripes, and those were pretty much the same.

PS Remember the Ben Stiller Show?  Janeane Garofalo, David Cross, Bob Oedenkirk, and Andy Dick.  I've been associating him with that 90's alt-comedy movement, and only mentally re-filed him under Frat Pack like a month ago.

carell, despite his comedic roots, is a very good and versatile actor. farrell is a human pratfall with a penchant for falsetto and showing his pasty ass. carell takes roles and makes them his own; farrell makes himself his own role. farrell has zero nuance and is just a big bumbling sight gag sans the chris farley styled self-loathing that might make him honestly amusing. farrell makes me pine for martin lawrence, which oughtta be some kind of crime.
