The dialogue is pretty hilarious though. They just came across a hole in space.

This episode is called "The Immunity Continumm" or something.

I think I'll watch this more when it's on.

so about a month ago I started watching star trek and quite after about 4 episodes.  The original is like an Ethiopian kid, covered in horse shit, being eaten by a bear; funny at first, then the horror sinks in.  Next gen was good.  Enterprise was a 6/10.

Fuck you.  TOS is the only good Trek series.  It was campy and awesome.  TNG is campy and dated, too, but certainly not in a fun way.  It is ridiculous, PC, and uses cookie cutter scripts.  DS9 wasn't that bad, actually.  Everything else is shit.  TOS is the only great Trek series, front to back.

its the most bloodthirsty series in the whole dang franchise, and has more great stories then all the rest of them put together.

I dig the original Star Trek.  Shatner, Nimoy, and Kelley have great chemistry together and it's never been equalled in any of the other Trek shows, despite every attempt to do a Spock/Kirk thing with Data and Picard in the Next Generation movies.

The scripts are great too, mostly written by veteran science-fiction writers.  They're intelligent sci-fi as opposed to the action-based pap we mostly get nowadays.  The Naked Time, Miri, City on the Edge of Forever, Space Seed, Return of the Archons, The Corbomite Maneuver, Amok Time, Mirror Mirror...they're classics.  (and those episode titles are from memory, even though I haven't seen an original ST episode in over ten years)

Yeah, a lot of aspects of the show feel dated - the music, the effects, the costumes...but at its core it's still a great show, which is more than you can say about 90% of science-fiction TV shows nowadays.

Also, somebody post in my film noir thread.  I'm heartbroken that it's being ignored, you jerks.

demi, this was one of the episodes with the redone effects - how were they?  Was it really obvious that the ship was CGI?

I saw a redone episode and it looked fantastic.  I can't wait to torrent more of the redone original episodes.  This is the only good sci-fi series on tv, and it's all about the plot and characters.  Top notch stuff, even if it's way over the top, that's part of the appeal as well.  Plus, how can you hate on
