Things you would like to see adopted to humans?
« on: April 09, 2007, 01:29:37 AM »
Mine would be the hamsters water drip.  God I want one; just a huge ice cold water tank hanging in the corner of my room with a straw that would hang by my chair, so all I would have to do for a drink would be swivel my chair and suck.

I always thought it would be cool to have one of those hamster balls to run around in. They have similar things, but not for normal people haha.

I just had a great idea.  I should get Monster House to do my room like an animal cage.  heated rock, drip bottle, woodchips for a rug.  It would be awesome, uncomfortable and scary for girls I invite, but awesome.

Sounds like the premise for a new reality tv show.

That would be pretty cool right about now.

I'd never use a heat rock for an animal because they're too unreliable (under-tank heaters = much better!), but I certainly wouldn't mind a people-sized one for myself!

I believe in the possibility of reincarnation, and I always said I'd want to come back in the next life as a cat.

Wouldn't it be fucking awesome to be a cat now? Sleep all the time, only worry about eating, drinking, and pooping...it'd be the fucking life man.

Of course, that's provided the owners actually cared about said cat and stuff. But yeah, if I could just eat and sleep all day I'd be so happy omg.

I believe in the possibility of reincarnation...
Speaking of which

Quote
People who believe they have lived past lives as, say, Indian princesses or battlefield commanders are more likely to make certain types of memory errors, according to a new study.

The propensity to make these mistakes could, in part, explain why people cling to  implausible reincarnation claims in the first place.

Researchers recruited people who, after undergoing hypnotic therapy, had come to believe that they had past lives.

Quote
People who are likely to make these kinds of errors might end up convincing themselves of things that aren’t true, said lead researcher Maarten Peters of Maastricht University in The Netherlands. When people who are prone to making these mistakes undergo hypnosis and are repeatedly asked to talk about a potential idea — like a past life — they might, as they grow more familiar with it, eventually convert the idea into a full-blown false memory.

Past life memories are not the only type of implausible memories that have been studied in this manner. Richard McNally, a clinical psychologist at Harvard University, has found that self-proclaimed alien abductees are also twice as likely to commit source monitoring errors.

Malek, I don't know that I've ever had a past life, but I think that if I did, I wouldn't be able to get at it through hypnosis. I haven't really studied it, but we just did some presentations on it and there was a video where a guy was being hypnotized to try to get at his "alien abduction" lol.

The hypnotist asked the guy like "do you remember seeing a ship?" and the guy said no, then the hypnotist asked a few more questions, and then was like "what color was the ship they took you into?" It's like asking questions in such a way that plants false memories, you know? Tricky tricky.

Still, sometimes I do wish that I could die and become a cat or something. My life would be so so so much easier. :D
