Heres a litle show summary:

Bleach follows the life of Ichigo Kurosaki, a 15-year-old high school student with the ability to see ghosts, and a shinigami (literally god of death), or Soul Reaper in the English manga, named Rukia Kuchiki, who runs into him one day while searching for a hollow (an evil spirit). During the ensuing confrontation with the spirit, she is wounded and forced to transfer all of her powers into Ichigo. Thus the adventures of Ichigo and Rukia begin. Together they search for hollows and perform soul burials on wayward souls, cleansing the spirits and sending them to Soul Society.

The early parts of the story focus mainly on the relationships between the characters, rather than the actual occupation of the shinigami. However, as events unfold, the story begins to delve deeper into the world of these gods of death on the "other side" called Soul Society.

The Anime is coming to America on Adult Swim this september.

The manga is also very badass: (this reqiuires some backstory, also SPOILERS BELOW)

I found it really trite and humorless. This sorta sterile, uncreative sword-slinging shonen shit has been done a billion times before.

One Piece is just...wierd. I like the art style though, very unique characters.

Bleach is just the most recent flavor-of-the-year fight manga. If you want me to stop mocking you, provide some actual reasons it's interesting and worth checking out, not a cliched plot summary and boring scanlation. Try harder!

One Piece is admittedly a guilty pleasure, but it's just so fucking wacky and charming. I groove on the kooky character designs and the High Seas X-Men plot arcs.

However, the US version is a horrifically neutered abomination.

I like Bleach. It has those annoying Arcs that take way to much time to get through but when those emotional battles come up, they do it well. Though, it kinda uses the DBZ formula in this regard.

I personally love Ghost in the Shell, Berserk, Hajime No Ippo, Trigun and Gungrave. All (to me) are offbeat to regular Anime in their own special ways.

When I made this topic I should have specified, Bleach is the only CURRENT anime/manga I like.
No I will not name them. I think naming the reason I like bleach would be a waste of time, to you at least...I realize this defeats the purpose of the thread so, mods you may delete this topic if you wish.
