I wont buy fifth element on DVD, I wont buy it on blu ray. I honestly had enough of stupid martial arts girl in the first movie. Ultraviolet just makes me hate her forever.

Ultraviolet is honestly, very horrible. Its not even lol horrible, its burrow your brow and hate yourself for watching it horrible.

I already own it on DVD. The only next-gen format. Am I the only one with a HDTV who really wishes for both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray to both lose?

I think MOST people arent ready to switch. I mean, we sit here, we buy all these DVDs that do a great job, then BOOM its time for blu ray and HD DVD just cauz a few companies say so. Theyre still making plenty of money off DVDs. And honestly aside from the obnoxious videophiles, there isnt a demand for new formats from NORMAL PEOPLE who make up 90% of the buyers anyway.

Exactly. Who wins the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray battle is the new Laser Disk and no one wants to be that. No one cared about laser disk except people who are criterion whores.

I just have one question. Why would you compare a format that was/is only playable on one macine, to a format that's going to be playable on multiple machines from multiple manufacturers?

Because Sony's track record other than UMD is also not so hot. Remember Beta-Max?

Even if it is prettier who says they will care even then? Laserdisk was a major improvement over VHS but no one cared about it. "Movie" mediums last a good 20 years unlike gaming which is every 5. I don't see that ever changing. DVD took off around 1999. 2018-19 is when we should care about changing formats.

Yeah and VHS being capable of 4 Hrs when Betamax wasn't helped to kill BetaMax. Not exactly the same thing here.
