actually, i played a lot of games once upon a time, too.  i didn't just have an xdude, ps2, and shamecube... i had one of each for my bedroom and living room.

I remember going to the video store back in the days to see all those weird and strange PS1 games like Vandal Hearts, Bugriders, Tobal, Killik the Blood, G-Police and going like "what the hell are these games about and who would play them?" It's still good memories though. It's like nostalgia when I think back of the days of the Playstation. Playing games on that machine was just so fun, it didn't matter what game you were playing, really.

Yeah, that's pretty much the strategy for nintendo home consoles I think- buy them at the end of the life cycle for super cheap and the games are inexpensive, too.  Even a filthy poor like me could probably afford a shamecube and a bunch of games.

I need to buy a Japanese PS2 one of these days, I'm not sure how long my launch PS2 will last. It's still going strong, but I know it will die one day. My PS3 will let me play all the US games I have, but my 20 or so Japanese titles will be useless once the flip-top soft modded PS2 kicks the bucket.
