I think there's a sphere to help it but I forget. I DID put 50 hours into the game myself.

I'm just now understanding the whole skill system. My characters have learned maybe 2 skills the entire game so far. Before I tackle the next dungeon (the desert), I'm going to make them learn all the skills they can at this point.

I can learn Psychosoma it seems now. Or rather, it seemed I could because it was in white. Don't know why it is, because I don't have two of the accessories needed to activate it. Well, I have them...but they're not the right color.

Most of the abilities I'm interested in are red and I have mostly blue stuff. Hmmm.

The more I understand this game the more I like it.

You'll wanna get the skill that doubles HP asap, I think its toughness...I think survival has a chance to revive on  KO Blow I believe.

You want to so you can release them and get the stat bonus items. There's a lot of rewards for leveling up characters that will leave or be freed.

I'm grinding right now. Not because I need to or anything, well I guess I *need* to because I'm going to have to have these abilities sooner or later (I haven't had much problem thus far without them honestly but whatever), but I'm working on getting skills.

Right now all of these abilities are white on the skill list menu. I can't activate some of them because I need like one or two more pieces of equipment to do so (like with psychosoma. I can't find a damn red earth rune piece anywhere).

Psychosoma
Mental Boost
Solitary Struggle
Spiritual Control
Heat Up
Overload
Regenerate Health
Victorious Vitality
Beast Bludgeon
Unholy Purifier
Dismantle

Right now I'm working on the main characters.

I've taught them all Iron Fist, Mental Boost, Survival, First Aid, Break Up. Some of them like Alicia and Rufus have Heat Up. Not so sure if I should make them learnt he rest of the availble abilities, but I'm going to work on a 2-3 Einherjar next, and I'm going to get them up to level. I've got one Einherjar who's got Psychosoma, who's an archer but inferior to Rufus (or so it seems, because she's only level 11 and he's like 16-17).

I am grinding in the dungeon I'm supposed to be working on. Haven't really progressed at all aside from one screen because I want to concentrate on skills and my characters right now.

Think I missed anything? Got any tips on what skills I should concentrate on?

Usually I'm not a big fan of grinding, but it's really addicting in VP2 because you're like "damn I need to find that piece of equipment so I can activate this skill or make this weapon/armor;etc." Wish the game came with a bestiary though. Oh well, then there's gamefaqs.

Most of the skills you dont NEED because they are a little too specific and will only make things easier in certain situations. There are skills like Survival and Toughness which ARE essential.

Man this skill system is wtf. I just randomly equipped a bunch of stuff to Rufus and now he's learning Fortify Physique, Force Field (100), and Free Item. Goddamit I thought that the skills you had items for were highlighted in white. AUGH. More grinding and experimentation!

Almost got every character having awesome skills and I keep finding new stuff to learn. I'm working on my big guys (Dylan and Arngrim). Should only take a few minutes to do. Once I've got every one with the skills I want them to have I'm going to continue with the story.

I should have started using Einherjar earlier. My archer Einherjar's 1st default attack can deal out insane damage sometimes. More so than Rufus in many cases. My Einherjar mage is a BEAST and along side Lezard the two hold their own. I am having a lot of trouble coming up with a favorite praty now. I like Alicia, Arngrim, Dylan, Rufus, my Einherjar archer, Einherjar mage, Lezard. Really cool party combinations.

I didnt use rufus much at all. I had the silver hair archer till the end. I had been getting nothing but archers, synthed like 2-3 archers into the silver haired one, she was a fuckin multi-hit beast by end game. Rufus is largely meh imo.

Volcano enemies are easy once you get the increased mass sphere to cancel out the decreased mass sphere; or you can restore the decreased mass sphere thats in the volcano level. As it stands the first time you run through they float around so much as you hit them that you miss at least 50% of your attacks.

If they're still hard then you need to grind more. Consequently the primary grind spot in VP2 IS the volcano area, the exp bonuses you can get with the right spear combinations is kinda nuts. There's also an forest later with wolves that spawn wolves which I was able to milk for up to 500,000 exp per fight.

Started playing this again today because I'm done with school.

OMFG @ the volcano dungeon. I love this game. The dungeons are really great stuff. Not as good VP1's dungeons, but still damn fun. The platforming :-[

I am still puzzled why people say the game is slow during chapter 3. Seems fine to me. During dungeons there's at least 2-3 cutscenes of character development. I guess people are just so damn used to rpgs that shove cutscenes down your throat every minute. Shit the dungeons aren't even that long. It's not like it's SMT where you have like 4-5 hour dungeons 2-3 2 minute long cutscenes in there. You spend 2 hours in these dungeons at MOST.

the dungeon is harder than the boss until you restore the sphere, then its easy and a great grind spot. I think the best dungeon in the game is the forest one near the end you can exploit to get 500,000 exp a fight.

What's a good way to get Crystals? These sealstones that cost thousands of crystals are really annoying! You get only a few crystals per battle.

There's a sphere thats uhhh x2 Bonus or something. When you use that sphere use an archer for the multi-hits that force crystals and bonus xp out. I linked to a thread earlier in this one that detailed the way to maximize your exp in the forest using specific spheres.

I almost bought this game today, but then I remembered that I haven't played the first one yet. So I bought Yakuza instead.

I'll either borrow my friend's copy and his PSP or play it on an emulator before I buy VP2.

I wasn't planning on buying anything, but when I step into a game store, it's hard for me to leave empty handed. And both Yakuza and VP2 were only $29.99 new. Stupid bitch tried to sell me a used copy with some generic case at first though. >:(

Goddamn it is taking forever to get this fucking heal 200% seal stone. I'm thinking of not even bothering. It may make the game too easy.

Okay, so I managed to get the XP pig stone. I was farming for a while so I could land me that 200% heal stone, but I don't know. Think that'll make the game too easy? What are the sealstones you think are REQUIRED to get without breaking the game and making it easy peasy?

the ones that cost a ridiculous amount is because when you get them, they make the game too easy. I personally didnt bother much with sealstones, I bought most of the cheap ones and thats it.

as long as there isnt a sealstone in a dungeon that's making it hard to beat the enemies/boss you dont really need to bother imo.

I love sealstones, min/maxing is the true way to play an RPG :D

You NEED the seal stone that prevents healing tho, forget which one that is. There are some bosses near the end you WANT it for.

Also I just fucked .Hack Mutation in the ASS with VICTORY JUICE. Outbreak is next :D
