What R U Listening 2 - hot and humid September edition
« on: August 31, 2006, 10:39:43 PM »

What a beautiful voice.  What a beautiful album.  The video for "Maybe Sparrow" made me cry: http://www.nekocase.com/news/

To say I was disappointed with this upon first hearing it would be an understatement.  It took a few months to go back and discover that it's actually a very good album.  Just had to get over the fact that it wasn't Logic Will Break Your Heart Pt. 2http://myspace.com/thestills

I'm super late to the party.  Just got this.

The master.  Listening to this again has inspired me.  I'm going to attempt to teach myself some classical pieces on the classical guitar.

Very good music. They have pretty unique beats and lyrics about everyday life. Very catchy stuff.

A solid effort, but Audioslave is wearing on me after only 3 albums.

Not just Red Alert either, just all C&C music.

The Killer7 soundtrack. I usually wouldn't be caught dead listening to video game soundtracks, but this one's actually really good. Everything from minimal/tech house to some great ambient pieces. The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Primal Scream references in the track titles were a nice touch too.

Also Luciano's disc in the Sci.Fi.Hi.Fi series, Dandy Jack and the Junction SM's "Los Siete Castigos", The Fall's "The Frenz Experiment", Felt's "The Strange Idols Pattern and Other Short Stories" ("Sunlight Bathed the Golden Glow" is definitely one of those great lost pop gems) and Squarepusher's more-of-the-same-not-that-that's-necessarily-a-bad-thing "Hello Everything".

What a beautiful voice.  What a beautiful album.

OMG, Error! Listen to her 2002 album "Blacklisted", NOW! It's 10x better than Fox Confessor. They both share a similar sound, you will not be disappointed. Overall, I think it's a much better album than Fox Confessor.

The only album of hers that I need to hear now would be "The Tigers Have Spoken". And her first album, "The Virginian," but I hear it's pretty weak.

You misunderstood me, man. It's a good album. I am just suggesting that he should listen to Blacklisted as well...
I've listened to Fox Confessor a lot, too. I'm not saying he's an idiot for listening to it or something. Like I saidi t's a good album.

I'm also listening to Neko Case as well.

But for me:

Got this just today, so far REALLY good.  It's current Dylan, so of course don't really expect anything like his 60s material.  It's still really enjoyable though.

Hope There's Someone is one of the most hypnotic songs I've ever listened to.

Blind Willie McTell...awesome early blues.

Right on.  I think Blacklisted will be the next CD I get.  I've only heard one song off of it, "Deep Red Bells", but like you said, it sounds very similar to Fox Confessor.

You'll love it. Blacklisted and Fox Confessor share the same sound. I was really excited when I first read that Fox Confessor was more like Blacklisted in reviews. I believe the album before was a bit twangy, but I've never heard it.

Listening to these currently... Weird, as I've had these albums close to their respective release dates, but never paid much attention to them. I listened to Antics a few times, but I never cared for Turn On The Bright Lights.  So now, after four years, I gave it a spin and everything just clicked. Loving both of these.

Interpol...

Turn on the Bright Lights has maybe three or four songs that stick out to me as being omg awesome, the rest are pretty bad.
Don't get me started on Antics.

Also, I heard a live performance of them on the radio and I seriously wondered if they hire studio musicians to do their work. Error, you wouldn't believe it. It didn't even sound remotely close to their studio album.

(I'm not trying to be a music nazi, I just like talking about bands. Listen to and enjoy whatever you want. :))

I've seen Interpol live and it sounded like their studio stuff, it just wasn't an exciting show because of their style.  Uber shoe gazing.

I am currently obsessed with Hem

Furgie: GOD KNOWS WHY I"M GONNA KILL SOMEONE FOR MAKING ME LIKE THIS THE BEATS HAVE ME
Gnarls Barkley: This has to be one of the most kick as albums i've hear this year its just fracking funtastic.
Metric: I love this stuff for some reason its like a mix of a bunch of good stuff i like.

And i've been listening to this huge collection of classical music been stuck listening to Devorak

You should check out their old stuff like "Stunt Pilots" and "I Wanna Be a Kennedy"

It's pretty decent.
