Golden state is up 2-1 against the best nba team in the league, and it wasn't a win by your teeth situation, they FUCKING ROMPED THEM.

The game was SO AWESOME!  If the mavs get owned this series (which everyone sitll thinks the mavs are going to rape the warriors) then the suns better fuckin win it!!!!

What do expect? It's difficult for it not to be a sideshow when everyone in the league is determined to find the next MJ

Yeah, there's a lot of that. The NBA wants to find a universal player like Jordan who can appeal to everyone. At first they wanted that to be Kobe, but his legal issues a few years ago basically ended that dream; also before those issues Kobe wasn't liked by many people. It's interesting because to date Kobe is the only player to even come near the level of greatness of Jordan. In some ways he's better than Jordan.

Now it looks like the NBA has decided Dwyane Wade is the guy. He's marketable, and one of the very best players in the league. Won the championship last year although this year it looks like he's going out in the first round

I've never even heard of Dwayne Wade and I pay no attention to basketball whatsoever. They better really market this guy if they want people like me to know who he is. People who never watched a single basketball game knew who Michael Jordan was.

Exactly. I don't think there will ever be another Jordan. He was bigger than basketball and came out at the right time. Wade is already grouped with a bunch of other great young players such as LeBron James.

No love for Carmelo?

Yeah, honestly I'd be happy if the Mavs got wiped. Too many bad memories of them when I still actually liked the Kings, or even basketball. I didn't watch a full game all regular season.

If the Mavs lose in the playoffs again, Avery Johnson is officially the Marty Schottenheimer of basketball.

Michael Jordan is the most famous athlete of all time, no contest. To try and copy that is just bullshit. Wade or Bryant will never have the shine Jordan did.

I know I might get shit for that comment, but Jordan is my bro.

Well, at least ESPN would agree with that. He did get #1 on the SportsCentury list.

Even if I don't necessarily agree with your "most famous athlete of all-time" statement, I can't argue with the fact that no NBA player will ever reach the popularity and worship level of Jordan. I'm from New York, so I'm obligated to hate him with all my soul, yet I cannot deny that the man was fucking incredible.

Although it looks like he's being outcoached, I'm not putting the blame on Avery. This comes down to the so called MVP no playing like an MVP. You're going to tell me that a 7 foot freak of nature like Dirk can't own one of the smaller teams in the league? He's not shooting a lot, and isn't doing much else to help that team. Now that Peyton Manning is a champion my hate is solely on Dirk. Until he wins something I'm not impressed.

Utterly pathetic.

I haven't been watching, so I really can't speak intelligently on the matter. I just remember reading about what Avery did with the starting lineup in the first game. It sounded pretty goddamn ludicrous.

Well Avery is going against the guy who taught him everything he knows. You don't see this in the NBA that much; every year this happens in the NCAA tournament though when former assistants take on their former coaches.

That I know, and it obviously was in Avery's head before the series even started. I guess it's understandable considering how fucking bad the Warriors own them.

She can always look in the mirror if she needs cheering up. What am I to do?

I don't see the Mavs winning this series. All hope is lost.  :-\

If the Mavs lose this series it'll be the biggest disaster since the Lakers lost to the Pistons in the finals. In fact, it'll be bigger than that because in all fairness the Pistons were the best team that year.

Will it cost Avery his job? Probably not. But losing to two teams that are inferior to you on paper (first the Heat, now the Warriors) would be big.
