Let the nerdiness begin. I have a file full of video game music, so I've posted some links below of my favorite ones. Post some of your favorites here. Youtubes, mp3s or just names if you don't feel like uploading. http://putstuff.putfile.com/ is what I used (you have to click next until download, it's easy).

Generally, I lean towards a lot of techno sounding beats and some orchestrated melodies.

If you want a great place to find OSTs or rare game music, I suggest connecting to DC++ and going to the VGM hub (vgmcentral.no-ip.com). That's where I got most of mine. OCremix (http://www.ocremix.org/) is another great place and where I found all of the remixes above, but it's soley remixes (no originals) of favorite gaming songs.

Awesome thread. Ive done a few like these that have failed miserably...

Probably because I always start by pimping: Earthbound (best snes soundtrack EVER)
I love all the songs in the game but here are a few of my favorites.

Paula's theme - It's a very creepy song that turns into something beautiful and I'm a sucker for sad songs.

I could go on forever with this one. Honestly whenever I feel sad or whatever I just listen to some of these and the nostalgia or whatever kicks in and I feel better.

Chrono Trigger, another of my favorite snes rpgs with a good soundtrack. I really like the wind instruments they use in this game and its sequel.

I really like the battle themes from this one...but my favorite is when facing Magus.

Now I love Chrono Trigger and have skipped a lot of good songs because I feel the sequel(s) does music better...
The following is from Radical Dreamers which was later remade/rewritten into what we know as Chrono Cross.

Star Stealing Girl, almost the same song as the one in CC, it was changed a bit and I prefer the older version:

There are 15 songs in radical dreamer all of which made it into Chrono Cross ( including gale

) I believe and well I like most of them more on chrono cross.

Chrono Cross...imo Scars Of Time should win an award for best fucking opening song ever in a videogame or some shit.

but to be honest, I haven't heard much from them. Maybe 12 songs orso. A lot of them cant compare to the originals. One Winged Angel for Advent Children was some badass shit though.

friggin classic.

anyways...

had some really wonderful great orchestral compositions, and some unforgettable piano tracks. The music was so great I gladly put up with so much of the game's quirkiness.

and ICO had wonderful music to go with its gravy everything else, I was watching some videos of it yesterday I got misty just hearing the music again.

You can have the best tech in the world, but the games that have I always found to be the most affecting were ones with great music.

and I'm probably alone in my D2 love, aren't I? Great music though, seriously.
